Default 1913 Portland Duffies Scorecard Question/Show NE League Items

Hi-

I recently acquired the scorecard scanned below of the 1913 Portland Duffs and I was wondering if anyone knows if the baseball player pictured on the cover is Hugh Duffy? His name is mentioned in the ad above the picture and he was the manager of the team that year. If needed I can take a better scan of just the photo.

Also, please show your New England League items! I need to check my collection, but I think this is my only piece.

Alan

Hey Alan,

how you been?
Did you attend the recent Boston show?
That certainly appears to be Duffy pictured, but a better photo would help.

Thanks Brent! I am doing well and hope you are too. I did go to the Wilmington show and I actually got this scorecard there, but I am a little slow in scanning and posting. It was a good show, and hopefully I will see you at the November one! Here is a better scan at 600DPI of just the player.

Default Duffy

I would say it’s Duffy. Here’s another image I found. If it’s for sale I am interested.

Picked this postcard up five or six years ago. My notes indicate "circa 1913-1916". Don't know where the heck it is in my collection crap-pile so can not add any info about what's on the back.

Looks like Duffy to me too. And he was certainly in Portland in 1913. Looks like the right i.d.

Hi David:

That is a great post card. It may be the old Bayside Stadium in Portland Me. The Stadium is long gone.
My Great-grand father is in the back row fourth from the left (Henry Merrill).
Hugh Duffy is in the middle row third from the left

Default Portland Duffs

Duffy managed the Portland team in 1913 and it was named the Duff's in his honor. This is confirmed in the SABR biography of Duffy.
