Interested in seeing folks written opinions or photos of cards that are currently HOT and / or currently NOT.

My opinion...

Hot:

1914 CJ Matty, Cobb and Jackson
1907 -- 1909 Ty Cobb postcards
Anything Ruth Red Sox related...cards, postcards and type 1 photos
Any Ruth, Cobb, Wagner and Jackson card with a combined population less than 15
Bond Bread Jackie Robinson

Not:

New era stars -- even in high grade 1985 -- present
Caramel cards from the early 1900s
Any card that has been trimmed and or altered...even HOF players

The prices on all those trimmed W590 cards lately seemed pretty healthy to me - especially given how heavily trimmed they were.

I was going to say Cobb postcards. Indeed.

Pretty much the same stuff is hot as last time. All of the great HOF'ers are doing fine it seems, overall. Caramels have never come back from their lofty highs from 10 yrs ago. STuff seems to be maintaining although it seems more 50s and 60s Topps are flooding the market now.

Signed contracts including Puerto Rican league contracts of former Negro league players are selling for a fraction of what they went 5-10 years ago. My only guess is that one or two people were driving the whole market. Leon day, will the br my only guess is that one or two people were driving the whole market. Leon Day, Willard Brown etc were 4k a few years back and are 1k now... I’ve seen other contracts that sold a few years ago and were we listed recently sell very poorly i’ve seen other contracts that sold a few years ago and we listed recently sell for a whole lot less this time around. I would imagine guys like Ruth and Gehrig are exceptions to this, but otherwise...

19th Century stuff hasn't rebounded from where it was several years back. A lot of it is a fraction of what it used to be.

You’re right about those ‘14 CJ being hot, Ethan. I got into a serious bidding war with someone over a Honus Wagner and a Walter Johnson in the recent Memory Lane auction. He clearly could endure more pain than me, so I had to bail. But not before both cards were going for over a full grade price higher. Very hot right now.
