The cards you won is one of 2 different Jimmy Reese's in the 1933-36 Zeenut set (cant tell the exact year without the coupon). Jimmy Reese is also found in the 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, and 1929 Zeenut sets. What you paid is about average for his card.

It wasn't me who won it. I didn't even bid - the winner is a friend of mine, though.

If your friend has any desire to sell this card, drop me a line. I have been trying to find a Jimmy Reese card for a gift for a friend who recently named his child after Jimmy Reese. He was an old friend of their family's and was like an uncle to my friend.
Thanks,
JimB

Many of the Reese cards are Andy Reese, not Hymie Solomon/Jimmy Reese. The one that just sold is a true Jimmy Reese. I was surprised how low it went given how many Jewish collectors are chasing it.

Adam - I couldn't agree with you more. I would have thought it would have gone for more too.

The 2006 SCD has...

Jimmy Reese listed for 1925, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1933-36 (2 dif.).

Andy Reese is listed only in the 1931 set.

Dont know how many of the Jimmy Reese's listed may actually be Andy, but at least 2 of the Jimmy's are listed at common prices (1926, 1928).

In the 1926 & 1928 listing, Its a typo either way, its either the wrong value, or wrong Reese. Maybe Mr. Lemke might want to fix it.

Anyone know how many of the Reeses are actually Jimmy??

We'd have to see the cards to tell for sure. As I understand it, Jimmie was with Oakland from 1923-29 so his card should be with the Oaks. The later cards with LA are Jimmie.
