Default INTERESTING Coincidence

Posted By: Tom

Okay.....in conjunction with the ALERT: NEW EBAY SCAM thread on the main page, I noticed an interesting coincidence.....

This ebay auction:

For a T205 Cobb has the exact same notation on the back of the card as the one at the Library of Congress site. From looking at the images on their site, I think it's some type of cataloging (sp?) number that was pencilled on there. Just wanted everyone to see this as I think the seller is a different person than the one in the other SCAM thread.

Here's the link to Cobb at LOC.....
Link isn't posting to actual photo. Select the first Tyrus Raymond Cobb from Ty Cobb listing by player.

Default INTERESTING Coincidence

has the same pink tint back as the card i received, my seller says he bought his at a large texas flea market, it's possible someone there is making these and dumping them on the market. they are freshly made, scans are downloaded and printed and affixed to pastboard to look like the real thing. as art mentioned in an earlier post, ALL the cards are from the library of congress files.

The scan of the front looks like the same scan that trader018, had on his auction, not quite in focus and the colors is off. I may be wrong with the seeler but it looks like a scan I have seen before.

I rarely buy a raw high priced card anymore unless I can handle it myself. The obvious scams and phonies are (almost always) weeded out by the big grading services.
