Default 1915 Standard Biscuit card questions

Posted By: Scott Forrest

The new SCD catalog is great - I've never seen one of these before, but purchased it at the recommendation of board members (thanks!). A recent e-bay 1915 Frank Baker card (# 1016607384) looked interesting but raised some questions for me. The SCD catalog says it's a 200 card set (and the photo of a card back reflects this), but the e-bay Baker card back scan indicates it's from a set of 80. The SCD Guide says there's a premium for the Standard Biscuit backs, but how much? Finally, any thoughts on the actual condition of this card - is it really ex to nrmt? The bottom seems to be thinner than the top, but this may be normal for this issue. It's great having the resources to look into this kind of stuff - thanks!

Default 1915 Standard Biscuit card questions

Posted By: Andy Baran

Scott,

Your Frank Baker card is from 1921, not 1915. Standard Buscuit backs exists for Sporting News cards, Collins McCarthy Cards, and E121 American Caramels. Since your card does not have a number on the front, this means that it is related to the 1921 E121 American Caramel Set. I believe that it is the same image that is used on the Collins McCarthy card. Based on the scan, I would grade the card at about Ex. I hope this helps.

and the E120's had "set of 80" or "set of 120" on back ....I believe......which is an easy way to see they are from the later series.....that and the obvious larger size of the E135 Collins McCarthy's.......best regards
