Default Do you ever forget what you have?

I decided to do some cleaning today and came across 3 Sandy Koufax auto'd cards, a Willie Mays auto'd ball and two Ted Williams signed cards that I completely forgot I had.

I know, this seems blasphemous, but I was pleasantly surprised as I was going through my closet.

Once I saw each item, I totally remembered buying it....but I really had forgotten I had them.

How often do you all "find" things in your collections?

That's a great feeling. It's funny yesterday I was getting some items ready to take with me to Cooperstown and behind some framed photos I found a Larry Doby signed 16x20 and a Carlton Fisk signed 16x20. Completely forgot I had them.

I don’t think I would forget anything signed by Willie, Ted or Sandy but I have a low end collection of low end stuff, so it happens to me occasionally. I just received a newspaper that, as soon as I opened it, I realized I already had. Good thing I paid a buck for it.

Oh yea all the time. If you saw my storage areas you would know why. Not that I have anything like an auto'd Mantle ball or anything but still.....

Once in a while I like to look at my past submissions to PSA on their we site. I still have no idea ever submitting some of those cards.

It happens all the time. It's so exciting to find something you forgot you had. It winds up being either something cool you can enjoy again or something you can sell to buy something you want more.

Definitely! Found a 1939 World Series program the other day in my closet and it was a pleasant surprise!

The flip side hurts though: When you forget where you put what you are currently looking for!

[x]Was sure I had it and didn't buy it

[x]Know I have it and can't find it

[x]Didn't know I had it and found it

I collect official minor league baseballs and as my collection grew I started forgetting what I had and buying duplicates. That's why I started a spreadsheet and then a website so I'd have a photo catalogue available no matter where I was.

I have a highly detailed spreadsheet and a website with all my m113 & m114 posters and I just figured out that the Robin Roberts m114 that I have on my want list is already in my collection. Hiding in plain site. Hahahaha.
