Default Diamond Star and scanning question....opinions appreciated!

Could sure use an expert opinion - I bought a couple Diamond Stars cards at a show recently and I think I'm hooked! I came across a particular seller and the scans of his cards look, well, different.

Could the scanner cause these lines if the resolution is set really high? Any opinions would be appreciated - the seller's prices were reasonable - right about what it seems they should be. Thanks!

This is how most of them look on ebay - at least the ones I've seen so far.

I collect diamond stars. The card looks good to me. The lines seem to be a resolution issue with the scanner. Everything else looks OK.

Usually if you overuse the "sharpen" feature on many photo processing programs you will end up with this type of look.
