Default New SGC Holders

Posted By: DR

I received my submission today in the mail and (3) cards out of (20) were floating around in the new holders above the black inserts. The new holder looks to have more room above the black insert and could damage thinner stock cards. In the future, I will only submit cards with thick stock, unless this is an isolated incident. Despite this issue, I am still very pleased with the grading, turnaround times and SGC in general. This post is not intended to be a grading debate!

I like the look of the new engraved back, but I certainly hope that this is isolated and does not end up being a problem.

If it is a problem I doubt it will be one for long....That reminds me of the GAI holders (slipping around) from a year or two ago.....I am sure SGC will fix it quickly....regards

I'm in the process of boxing up a submission for them, but it looks like I should wait until this materials problem is answered/resolved.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that news. My latest submissions went very well, even got a 1.5 grade bump from the PSA grade on this one below. I even received the card back a little early. I like the back of the new holders, and don't notice a difference on the fronts.

We are aware of the problem and have already taken steps to rectify it. The next batch of holders will have the engraving on the outside instead of the inside of the holders. If you have any problems feel free to return the cards for a reholdering free of charge.
Thank You,
Glyn Parson

I had a T201's graded several months ago that slid past the insert. I do not understand how this should be an issue, it is a math problem to determine the thickness and or incoming QA issue.

Good to know Glyn. I have 10 E98's that should be there tomorrow so hopefully this issue will be quickly fixed.

I received my first SGC submission today. Probably a week early and customer service out the ying-yang! PSA will have a tough time ever getting me to submit to them again. Glyn, please let Michael know that he and your entire team have done a wonderful job! As far as the holders go, I do not have any "floaters". My submission had T206, CJ's, '35 Chicle, and 40-59's.

...I do like the new look of the backs. The gold foil, even fresh from Parsippany, always looked a little chipped along the edges or scratched. This looks much cleaner and more professional.

Got a group of 8 cards back from SGC earlier than scheduled and no problems with card sliding. For what it is worth, I feel it is not that big of a deal when a mistake is made by SGC, as everyone makes a mistake (like the sliding cards). It is what they do about it, upon being informed of the problem. For this, I give them top marks and all of my business. I also like the new design.

I couldnt agree more. You can always count on SGC to be responsive to any problems that may rise. They have also managed to make the best looking slab in the hobby that much nicer.
