Default T206 Dorner variation?

Posted By: Rick McQuillan

Hi,
Has anyone else come across this Gus Dorner color variation? The scanner doesn't do justice to the vivid differrence between the regular red background and the orange background card. Both are Piedmont 350 25/24.

There are a number of red background portrait cards that can be seen in varying shades of orange background.

Do all Dorner's have that vertical division between the left and right sides of the background?

Rick,
All the T206 Dorner's that I've seen have the division with the different shades of red. The shading on the entire card looks lighter on the orange Dorner that the red Dorner. It's a neat looking card and IMO it's distinct from the standard red shading. Here's one I recently picked up with the ghost image on back.

Hi Johnny,
Thanks....I recently picked it up on ebay. It did not indicate ghost image but I happened to run into it during one of my T206 searches. It's not a printer scrap....there was a recent thread on ghost variations which had some great vintage cards including some printer scraps. It was titled "Please show your ghost overprints."

I asked the same question about Marquard, the pose in D303, and the E series'....I thought it was possibly altered before I knew better...(middle row far left).....
