How Tough are '72 BB High Numbers?

Started to put this set together piece by piece but am thinking about abandoning it due to the high numbers and overall size of this set. How tough are these high #'s and is this the type of set that you should just pick already complete? Thanks for your advice and/or experience.

Don't give up. Just take it slow and eventually you will complete the set. I have had success buying the cards on this site. The high numbers are not really that difficult to track down. I have worked on this set off and on for a couple of years and find that the chase is just as rewarding as the finish. Take care.

The way you approach the set depends on whether you get enjoyment out of building the set piece by piece. I worked on it for quite awhile including upgrading..but it can be done. I started with my childhood collection of low numbers and then upgraded and moved onto the semi and high numbers. If you can be fine with a Ex-Nr Mt cards...it shouldn't be too hard. I don't know how far you are along...but if you have lots to go...its always a good idea to focus on buying bulk lots...and then filling in the gaps as you go along. Another way is to buy a complete set and then upgrade the pieces you don't like...

To me; They are about the same difficulty as 1970 hi numbers.

The last really difficult high numbers were the 66 and 67 short prints and the 61's.

Condition wise much easier than the 70 or 71. The 70's have major centering issues and many with the white line accross the topyou already know how tough the borders are on 71. Just keep an eye out for some high grade set breaks and you can do some major damage pretty quickly, but not quick enough to make it easy !

I agree that 1972 High#'s have a moderate difficulty - in line with 1970 and 1971. You can find them at any given time if you know where to look and have the $. 1972 is far tougher to complete than 1958, 1965, 1968, 1969 and 1973.

1952 Topps is by far the toughest Hi# series, 1966 Topps comes in at #2 on my list, followed by 1972 Topps Football. 1955 Bowman is #4 followed closely by 1967 Topps and then 1963. After that, maybe 1964, and then 1955 Topps. How is that for the top 8?

Not if you go after the Yellow variations, then the 58 is much tougher,also the team card variations and the super rare Herrera error which I wouldn't include as it is almost impossible.

If you are not overly concerned about condition, and will take VG and up, they are all over EBAY for $5 and up.

it takes time, but i got them together pretty quickly. a buddy sold me a big lot on the pSa boards for less than $2 a card, in ex-mint condition. there are deals to be had.
