1962 Mets team issues

The 1962 Mets were a terrible team. But they had an all-celebrity coaching staff, with Stengel as manager, Hornsby as the batting coach, and Red Ruffing as the pitching coach. There's lots of stuff out there showing Stengel as a Met. And I've found two team issues showing Ruffing as a met -- a 4" x 5" one with a facsimile autograph, and an 8" x 10" one with a printed name. (These are shown below, not in actual size). But I've never found anything of Hornsby. Do any of you know if there are any team issue photos of Hornsby from his season as a coach for the Mets? Thanks.

Well, there is at least one that was taken in '62. In Chas. Alexander's bio on Hornsby - 1995 - facing page #239. Looks similar to Ruffing's pic, so I'm guessing team issue. He died the next year. Sure is a very old looking 66. Looks closer to 86.

In 1981 Topps issued a set of Met team pictures they titled Magic Memories Series. It shows team photos of the 62, 69, 73 Mets and one combo card featuring Stengel, Hodges, Berra and Torre. The 62 card does not show Hornsby

A google image search with his name plus Mets turns up at least two pix of him in Mets duds. Both look like some sort of team issue.

Never knew Ruffing was a Mets coach.

Where did they issue those? 81 was a year I was really into cards, spent a LOT of time in the local shop and I don't recall seeing those at all.

They were a Stadium Give Away
