So glad you didn't go after the Des Moines cabinet. I am overjoyed to have picked it up for the price.

The grandstand photo is great. I have a Des Moines team photo from 1888 with the same grandstand image behind the team from the Boyd studio. Additional, there is a very ornate imperial cabinet from LaRoche with the same grandstand image. I have also seen on here a normal sized cabinet of the same LaRoche imperial. It would be nice to have all four someday but I doubt I will have to cash for the imperial.

As some of you may remember, I had a T206 Nodgrass variation in the 90's. I submitted it to PSA, it was the first one they ever graded. I later sold it in Lelands circa 2000. It's been floating around/MIA for 2 decades. Well, I was delighted to see it last night, and I won it back for a fraction of what I sold it for. Has a lot of sentimental value to me (acquired when my dad & I collected together). Here's the old (fuzzy scan, with extra marks on case, not card) with the new scan. You can see the cert # is the same, as well as the imperfections.

PS- Doesn't PSA put variation notes on the flip anymore? I want to add that back.
Hi Mike, I'm glad that you got your card back. I've been selling off many of my cards, including this one. If I decide to sell that Street/ Drum I'll let you know. But that one I won't be selling to you at a loss.

Ryan, you didn't grow up in the '60s, or you would know how popular Shatner was back then.

Nice going on the Merkle/ Brown Lenox. Do not start a back run, I don't want the competition.

Craig,

So good to hear it was picked up by someone in the N54 family that will truly appreciate it. That was such a nice price on that cabinet!

Awesome Gypsy Queen Kelly, Mac. That one was sure tempting.

I myself am happy to have picked up Yum Yum #2 with the Richardson example. The format fits my schedule very nicely. Great pickups everyone else. On to the next adventure!

Default Lot 651

Another board member and I were talking and we were curious about this lot.

Lot 651 was a lot with early rppcs of negro teams along with some other oddball items.

We both collect a decent amount in this area and were shocked to see the hammer price. 20k!!!!

We have looked all the pieces over a few times and cannot find any majorly significant players.

Any thoughts and/or opinions?

Did we miss something?

Thanks
Travis

I was able to pick up one E107 common at a cheap price, but I'm guessing the lower prices might be an anomaly as a result of a bunch of cards on the auction block at the same time.

Any other thoughts on the E107s sold this weekend?
Yea, that probably had something to do with it.
Thank you!

Thanks guys!

Sean, the Nodgrass was yours? Glad it's coming back home, it'll be in good hands...will go to my son, with a great story about it's journey.

I bought it in 2004 or 2005 from T.S. O'Connell.

many of the so-called rookies as well as the pictures in the E107s are in the M101, sporting news and copper plates, from several years before, the true rookies. I think those are WAY too cheap and should be bought when available. I think the E107s had to come down a bit at least, great cards but often in rough shape and they had been extremely pricey. Now if only the M101s would be graded, that would help those prices I think (I own them already).

I didn't see the Lajoie L1 leather until it was too late to bid, not sure how I missed that. thought that was pretty reasonable price too.nice pickup for someone.

As the owner of a nice Pathe Freres Ruth, I was both surprised and happy to see lot 804 all in at $25,800:

I still have Bauman, Bushelman and White to go. I'm glad I picked up my Lewis no emblem before this auction. The REA one went over $24k!!

Congrats Ryan on your nice haul. Mike, nice job getting back an important card for your collection and memories. Plus nice pick up’s by all members that posted. I changed things up a bit. The past three weeks I have been buying many cards at great prices from net54 members and non members that were raising funds for the REA Auction. REA helped me out...

I guess more of the RC collector, being that I have others. However, I really love the E107 set, but this will be my only card from the set I'll own. I always take a look at the E107s and sometimes bid and try to win cheap but they're usually quite cost prohibitive. I really didn't think I'd have a chance at the Plank.

I certainly could never attempt the E107 set but can see myself picking up some more over the years.

12/8/2019 - I won a 68 3D Maloney from REA
12/9/2019 - I mailed bank check at 4:30 PM
12/11/2019 - I received email from USPS that my item has shipped at 4:00 PM
12/13/2019 - Card arrived 10:30 AM

Hopefully other auction houses take note,(Wacky Aunt's, Insane Granny's or whatever Crazy name).
This is how you run an auction my friends.

Beautiful stuff everyone. I picked up the W560 Jimmie Foxx. That was the last possible Foxx RC I needed.

I'm thrilled to have acquired this N370 Lone Jack Cigs for a good bit less than I expected. I have long wanted a N370 type card with a strong player image AND with all the printing readable.

N370s are tough to find with nice images. That one is a beauty - about as good as it gets.

Kevin & Steve, thanks for your kind words. FWIW, my max bid was more than twice what I got this N370 for; REA is one of the very, very, very few auction houses with which I have no qualms placing such a max bid.

Congrats. I wished I had thrown in an early bid on this in retrospect.

Very cool - I didn’t see that but love it.

JOBU,

I agree. I also own a very nice Ruth Pathe Freres and was very pleased to see what this one sold for.

I was able to pick up this beauty. Even though PSA holdered it as altered, it's not trimmed and the only flaw was the text on the back was re-applied in a small spot where it was removed from an album.

Default I bid like a rookie

I bid like a rookie on the Polo Grounds Jackson and decided to pass on the National Game Jackson. Of course the
Polo grounds went way up above what I could afford and the National Game sold for $300 less which was within my price range.

I do not deserve a Jackson with stupidity like this. I ran this auction like the Mets.

Congratulations to those who were wiser.

Paul

i was an/the underbidder on that one right up until extended bidding. REALLY wanted to go as high as you did; and for all the same reasons. alas - I was threatened with a divorce if I did - should've taken the Jackson and my freedom...

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get another chance.

Great win, Ken! That was BIG BUCKS. Any idea who the underbidder was? I was in there but couldn’t come close to the hammer price.

Thank you, Phil!! Yeah, I paid more than I expected, but it was one those: "It's mine, dammit!! Stop bidding, you infernal So & So, lol!!" Wondered if it might have been Derek? No word, yet. Can't wait for it to arrive.
