Default Hunt Auction winners

If you won (or know who won!) Hunt Auction lot 146: 1923 W572 near complete set, please contact me.

I'll make a good offer for one card in that lot.

Cheers,
Patrick

Default Hunt's

Had fun bidding this morning. Missed the photo portion as I had to get back to work. Added some more Coupons. Really prefer their traditional auction format.

If anyone is splitting up the Highlander's grab-bag lot 110, I would buy the d303 Donovan from you...Rob

Scott that has tremendous eye appeal!
Is it backless or something?
Nice card!

Patrick, good luck on contacting and potentially completing a deal on the W572!

Thanks Brian! Description says mounting residue on the back. As we know Hunt inexplicably doesn't provide back scans and I didn't even ask for one. I loved the front too much!

You got that card for an absolute steal. I swear that's a $3500-$4000 card...

Brendan if I'm being honest I was elated at the price. I had a ceiling bid in for a fair amount more. I was really surprised when it opened at my pre-live bidding ceiling and got zero on-line action. Auction fatigue perhaps?

Beautiful card Scott! You got a great deal.

Did anyone here grab the Matty Jones Keyser Arras Cabinet that was removed from the mount? I took it to $3000 but couldn't justify more. Hunt said they sent it to PSA. Pity that the "experts" there didn't realize what it was!!

SGC would have slabbed it as a JKA mount removed. Bet they sent it to Henry at PSA for photo type identification, which yes can not be identified as a type one.

I did OK and was able to get the one item I was really after in this auction.

The one thing I really don't like are the bid increments. Once an item hit $500, it went in $100 increments, which is a 20% leap. Same when it hit $1,000, the increments were $200. It made it so you could be a bit strategic about when to place the bid, knowing the next one would be a big jump. Most other auctions use a 10% bid increment, if not smaller.

Smaller increments may have solicited more bids in many cases - REA used to have a similar philosophy, but moved to smaller increments which I personally feel is much better.

I just missed the T 206 Pirate lot and the 52 Bartirome (would have gone 1/2 an increment hire, but not a full one). I won the 33 Goudey Pirate lot - really pleased with the price. I was intending to bid on that Ruth photo - til it opened at over 30K!! and closed at 37 - WOW!! Great photo. Great price.

Is there a way to figure out what you won? I can’t seem to find such a link on their circa 1987-era website.

I thought this trio was pretty cool for $700. Will go with my Gehrig. Coveleski spelled wrong to boot.

I think you need to re-install Windows 95 to see your invoice.

Default Bernhardt photo

I won the Conlon Walter Bernhardt photo. He played one game for the Yankees on 7/16/1918. I expect Conlon showed up that day and this may be only photo of Bernhardt as a Yankee. A biggie, at least for me!

If you won the auction lots of 1919 W514's and are looking to split them up I would be interested in several of them. Feel free to contact me at pitburgfan@gmail.com. Jeff
