Default Just how rare?

Posted By: William Cohon

I just bought this 1936 World Wide Gum Weintraub card (#135). I collect Jewish players, with especial interest in the old cards, so I'm pretty excited about this acquisition. I understand that until recently, the set was thought to end at #134. Can anyone fill me in on the story, please? And, of course, I am wondering just how rare the card is (i.e. - what is the population?). Thanks for your help.

Bill

First to answer your question, PSA has graded 7 (2 of which are higher than 3) and SGC has graded 6 (3 of which are higher than a 40 -- those three are all 50s).

Second, the seller of this card is a very handsome, intelligent, charismatic guy from out California-way.

Thanks, Cat, for the information, and thanks for the card (I have sent payment, and look forward to receiving it).

I am still curious how the Weintraub card happened to be overlooked for 60 years. And I am also curious as to its scarcity, compared to the other 134 cards. Any ideas?

Bill

Bill -

Nice to have another collector of Jewish players join the forum. And, the guy you bought the card from (Cat) is one of the, if not the greatest human beings on earth.
