Default O/T Help identifying a baseball player . . .

Any help identifying the younger man in front is appreciated. I believe that is Sal Maglie (back center) and the man far right is Frank Toomey - a scout and football coach at different times in his life. Thanks, Scott

That's Joe McCarthy in the middle next to Sal the Barber.

The guy who is the focus of attention looks very familiar. One of George Sisler's sons?

Default Possible Dick Sisler

I too think it could be Dick Sisler, son of George. Not sure why he would be with the others in the photo though.

Richardson does make sense. He and Maglie played together with the Yankees in 1957. That was also Richardson's first all-star appearance. Not a big resemblance imo though -- but way beyond my expertise.

Edited to add: The more I look at the photo, the more I believe that it is Richardson. Maybe that's human nature.

Don't think it's Bobby Richardson. Face doesn't match at all to me. Believe it's one of George Sisler's sons. I've seen a similar photo somewhere, maybe one of my many scrapbooks. The young fellow looks very familiar, just can't place him. Definitely Sal Maglie and Joe McCarthy in the back row.

I agree James, check out Dick Sisler images and see a photo on eBay now of George, Dick and a third son, certainly a good likeness. Do not believe it is Richardson.

Looking deeper this is possibly something related to the Niagara Falls, NY area. Joe McCarthy played baseball there -- Maglie is from there -- Toomey attended Canisius HS in Buffalo. I agree the Sisler resemblance is compelling but I have not been able to tie Dave, Dick, or Jr. to this group.

Is this the same Frank Toomey who was an assistant football coach at Maryland? If it is, his son Mike is a coach at DeMatha HS in Maryland. Long shot is to contact him and ask if he knows anything about this photo.

Thanks Edgar -- that's the same Frank Toomey -- and the photo came from Mike -- a friend of a friend (who thought I might be able to help with the names). Scott
