Default Anyone have any good card suggestions in the D.C. area?

Posted By: Brueso

I'm going to Washington D.C. for business for a few weeks- does anyone have any good card store recommendations? Also, is the Library of Congress collection available for viewing, or is it just via the internet? Any card related suggestions would be appreciated!

There is nothing in the DC area worthwhile. I was born and raised there, and although I moved about 3 years ago to Cape Cod, the DC area is a horrible place to look for vintage sports cards and memorabilia.

If you have time to go to Baltimore, you can hit Jays Sports Connection, otherwise, just hang out at the Museums.

The Smithsonian does have a small sports display, but no public viewing of the sports card collection.

I believe that there is a Babe Ruth museum in Baltimore, but I'm not sure.

I'm in Baltimore, but a couple of suggestions for the DC-Baltimore area:

By DC - "House of Cards" in Wheaton, MD (located just North of the northern DC beltway). Fair amount of pre WWII stuff, esp. related to DC sports. Had really nice T2 HOF boxer last I was in, full 35 National Chickle football set all PSA graded, etc.

By Baltimore - Jay's Sports Cards in Timonium, MD (located just North of northern Baltimore beltway, Timonium East exit off of I-83) - Lot's of good stuff (19th century up through present). Had nice 1887 OJ Billy Sunday, CJs, T-206s, etc. last I was in. Owned by publisher of VCBC, Don Betz. He's always in, usually working on the magazine.

Both have fair amount of interesting memorabilia, mostly regional, from early/mid 20th century as well.
