I believe that is a High End (HE) sticker on the tuna's right flank.

If so, the winning bidder got a raw deal. But he could sue, si?

I may be all wet, but I believe this is the best tuna thread this forum has ever seen.

My first look at that big tuna sent me reeling, but the more I see it, the more I'm hooked. I wonder if it took 54 nets to land it. Seems like a good topic for de-bait.

The winning bidder burst into song, but he can't carry a tuna.

For those of us unschooled in fish genders, can you tell if that tuna is ahi or a-she?

Assuming the whole thing was used, 612 lbs x 16 oz/lb /12 oz/can = 816 cans of tuna...or... better yet, -one delicious 1909-11 T206 Honus Wagner!

It seems unlikely the bidder will recoup his investment going that route.

Recently got a catch of mine graded in the group sub to Professional Saltwater Authenticators, but I didn't notice the small problem with the tail, so I got hammered with the dreaded PD (predator defect) qualifier...

I'll bet it's more valuable if it remains unopened.

... or if it's remains are unopened.

My friend, Salmon I were going to put a bid on the tuna for the halibut before herring, that Dr. Marlin, a koi heart sturgeon with no sole, would be bidding. Once bidding began some shrimp with mussels tide up the dock who could not raise his paddle to bid.
