Here is my football version. Gratiot Ave. is a Detroit street. The thermometers were made by Taylor Brothers out of Rochester, NY based on the stamping found on back. Sorry photo is sideways but took pic with phone .

Mike & Adam, thanks for the info provided in your responses. With this info, I am now able to make out what is faintly stamped on the back of my piece, which is "T. B. Thermometer Company, Rochester, N. Y."

Mark - did you see the Pairpint baseball napkin ring that just sold on ebay? It seemed like a pretty good price for the seller. Maybe it was a bargain. Out of my realm.

Great stuff, everyone! Who knew that such a seemingly obscure topic would produce so many fine examples? Says a lot for our group, and the breadth of our collections! (first time I've used the word "breadth" in a while )

Rob-
Yes, I was definitely following it and think someone landed it at a good price. I've seen that piece go for over $1K on occasion. This one had a few very minor flaws, but I still think the winner got a good deal. These things have completely dried up, and the workmanship of the Pairpoint items is second-to-none.

As Napkin Rings go, this is simply the finest one out there.
