Default 1934 Goudey cards are BEAUTIFUL!

Branching away from my T206 collection for a brief break I decided to get on Topps for every year made and put them in sheets in a binder. I have gotten that going and decided to take the 4 loose '33 Goudey's I own and put them in the binder also then I decided why not buy 5 more and have a whole sheet of 33's? ....of course THAT made me want another sheet of '34 Goudey's of which I own none so off to ebay I went to look at prices and build a watch list and WOW!! THAT is a beautiful set! I had never paid attention to them before and I am just floored at the designs. I can't wait to finish my "9 Sheet Set" of 33 so I can get started on the 34's
Rambling but I had to share how impressed I was.

It's ok to ramble about our addiction hobby among friends on the board. The R320s ('34 Goudeys) certainly have an art deco style to them, which I like too. I think I got this from our BST section. I just wanted a clean, lower grade example and found it. Nothing fancy .

THAT is a beautiful card, Leon Of course every '34 I have seen is beautiful which is the direct opposite of the 1938 issue.

Clearly one of the better looking baseball cards in history...

Photo cards are nice, but the painterly quality cards always held a special place in my heart. Mini-Masterpieces.

I agree, the art is top notch, though I never got down with the '34's. Something about every card have Gehrig or Klein's name on it bothered me.....but I'm a weirdo, so what do I know?

I LOVE THE GOUDEYS!!!!!!

I have been building this set and man I will tell you I was quickly drawn to the design of these cards. I have hit the half way mark now and on the back end of the set. I have some nice examples of these cards but one of my favorites in the set minus the Gehrig (#37) is these two below,

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I have been collecting and doing research on this set for close to two years now. Best of luck

Jesse

I agree about their beauty. I would say the 34 set is probably THE best looking set I have ever seen. All I need is three more '33 cards to fill my 9 page THEN I can buy my first '34 Im excited about that.

To me, the Huck Betts card is my favorite. Something about him coming in from the extreme left...

(Not mine)
