No peeking in the stats book now

Which pitcher has won the most 1-0 complete games (modern era- doesn't include Cy, Big Train or Lefty Grove)?

1. Nolan Ryan
2. Pedro Martinez
3. Roger Clemens
4. Bert Blyleven
5. Catfish Hunter
6. Randy Johnson

I'm guessing Blyleven who has more complete games than several of those guys combined?!

Very much doubt it's the three 80s-90s guys as that was the era of seven inning starts.

Blyleven and Ryan likely had far more starts than Catfish.

Finally, I am guessing the question wouldn't have been asked if the answer was Ryan.

Yup, it's Bert. Possessor of the best curveball that many of the HOFers said they had ever seen. He deserves to be in the Hall with what 286 wins? WS championship rings from 2 different teams and top 5 alltime in strikeouts. Oh well, someday...

Excellent longevity stats, but not enough dominant years, only one 20 game season, almost never in the running for Cy Young and never finished higher than third, only two All-Star selections. Too many 14-10s and 15-12s. A very fine pitcher, but not an all-time great in my opinion (my criterion).
