Yiddish is written with Hebrew letters. Because it is transliterated phonetically into English, spelling varies widely.
Irish Catholic father (1947-48 veteran of Hagannah, BTW) marries Jewish gal from Brooklyn => a Yid named McDonald. Go figgah!

"Edited to add: No intents offended"
No intents taken.

"How many threads we gonna have on this "card"?"

I really should have checked all the postings before starting my own. Serves me right for going on vacation. Some funny stuff on the other thread.

"In this Sept. 12, 2005, photo released by the Brooklyn borough president's office, a sign on the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge proclaims 'Leaving Brooklyn: Oy Vey!' The sign, bearing the Jewish expression of dismay or hurt, is intended as a way of acknowledging Brooklyn's large Jewish population."
