Default Bill Dickey Rookie?

Posted By: Richard

Greetings, can anyone tell me what is the rookie card for Bill Dickey? I have heard several opinions from some fellow collectors and would be interested to hear some more. Look forward to some opinions.
Thank You

Although... this thread indicates that U.S. Caramel should perhaps be called a 1933 set:

In 1931 he was on 2 strip cards the W502 and W-UNC-1931... Hal how cn you consider the Caramel his rookie when in the same year he was also on Worch Cigar, R300, R319 and the V353

I have seen the dates for those "strip" cards listed in different places as being 1931... 1931-33... 1932... etc.

Thus, until something definitive says that those cards were definitely printed in 1931... I consider them a "tie" with the 1932-33 cards.

But... if it turns out that U.S. Caramel really is a 1933 set, then ALL of his cards from 1933 would be rookie cards.

Bresdo: Just because I say that ONE card is his rookie card, that does not imply that others from the same year would not.

There is a lot of room for error in the years...I was just really psyched because my core datbase for my website is now active and when you enter a search for a player by last name it gives you all of the cards for that player listed by year. And this was the first time I got to use the feature.

1931 W-Unc. is Dickey's first card.

I agree with Frank.

Anyone ever seen the Dickey card from this set? I'd love to see a scan.

Where is the proof that these W-UNC cards were distributed in 1931?

Like I said, I have seen them listed over the years as being from 1932 and/or 1933 as well.

There is nothing on the back of the cards to help us out, nor are the teams designated on the front so that we can look for trade dates.

Were the Schutter Johnsons issued before these? I have Dickey #11 as a 1930 issue.
