Default Altered T204s in Legendary - Group Buy?

Anyone interested in taking a share of the altered T204 lot in Legendary?
http://www.legendaryauctions.com/Lot...x?lotid=111945

For the sake of it not getting too complex, I'd ask any participant be willing to kick in at least $1k.

As an aside, does the fact that the balance of the set made it into numerically graded holders (offered in other lots) after 101 out of 121 were deemed to have been altered concern anyone?

At least they got 83% of them right.

Matt,
PM sent. How could one resist such elegant prose even if most of the irregularities were more recently effected!

"However, under the most unforgiving scrutiny, almost every example can be seen to yield a subtle discrepancy. Most of the pieces concede an irregularity at one edge, or more (sometimes these imprecise cuts are period in nature, while some were effected in more recent times), or their borders show slight, isolated abrasions."

Well - that clears up what was altered on the cards...

Hedley Lamarr: However, under the most unforgiving scrutiny, almost every example can be seen to yield a subtle discrepancy. Most of the pieces concede an irregularity at one edge, or more (sometimes these imprecise cuts are period in nature, while some were effected in more recent times), or their borders show slight, isolated abrasions.

Taggart: God darnit, Mr. Lamarr, you use your tongue prettier than a twenty dollar whore.

Does anyone have a clue what that description is about? I know no more about those cards after reading it than before.

Are you sure you didn't just ignore the more informative passages?

Barry,

I think that is the long-handed version of "These cards are trimmed."

You guys are harsh. There is a complicated artform to turning a 1 word description of the condition, "trimmed," into a full paragraph to fill a page and making it sound like a good thing in the process. Show some appreciation!

I don't know about you guys but after having read that description I've suddenly gotten a burning desire to give up 10K to join a hobby trade association.

Have noticed alot of this type of interesting descriptive method in auctions lately. It appears to work based on some results.

"under the most unforgiving scrutiny" - That reads like a bad thing, but isn't it what all TPG's should be applying to every card?

I think those cards really are Authentic++++. Not three pluses, but four. They're really close to being 1s.

We've got 3 or 4 interested parties so far. Still looking for someone who wants to tackle the WaJo and/or a chunk of the commons.
