Furthermore....DITTO goes for my complete All-SOVEREIGN set of 402 cards.

Incidently, you have my SOVEREIGN set # listed as 444. A complete All-SOVEREIGN set comprises of 402 cards (No Big Six in it).
I have 42 extra SOVEREIGN cards towards completing a master set. So, please correct my number on this set.

I appreciate your consideration to my requests as stated here.

Hello. I am new to Net54 and relatively new to T206. After looking around the site a bit, I found this thread and decided it would be a great place to post my first message.

I just recently started collecting T206 cards after focusing primarily on post-war material for many years. To me, the artwork is beautiful and discovering the stories behind players I didn't know before is an absolutely fascinating experience.

My Monster number is 7, comprised of graded commons (VG - EX.) The best and worst of the group are pictured (or should at least accessible through a link) below.

http://i1288.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2418fbf8.jpg

Thanks for the opportunity to take part in this.

Best Regards,

Eric

Hey Frank,

Hi Nelson,
I've never bought anything from E-bay. I just don't trust it. I picked this up at Clean Sweep Auctions, this week.

Default Two Slow Weeks in a Row

Geez, between the same unsold listings recycling through over and over again, coupled with a heavy beater population, along side "Auctions" with fullblown market prices for minimum bids, I wound scoring one this week. Count 'em, one. My Number is up to 201.9

I scored:
Mike Donlin (With Bat) SC350

You probably already said this earlier in the thread, but what's the extra .9 for?

Cole, My first fractional T206 HOF-er had me at a ".6" Since then, Frank, the Monster Number Man has contributed 3 more that between paper loss and nibbled corners added up to be a total of 2.3 cards, hence the 201.9 (I actually have 203 cards....199 are in more "acceptable " shape). Here is the first card, a Waddell portrait that I picked up for a "fraction" of the normal price

Here are a few examples of the rest of my stack.

Default Fractional Cards - New Policy

Seeing that Waddell again makes me want to cry.

I want to discourage future activity in the fractional T206 market for the purpose of shamelessly increasing one's Monster Number by a few tenths.

To this end new policy rules are required:

1. No longer will cards be given partial scores based on their degree of paper loss.

2. Mike's Rule - You have three choices sir. Your Monster Number will be increased to 203, or you can accept the portion of my Bay card that has been removed to bring your Monster Number to 202, or you may invoke the Schaefer Precendent (see below) and remain a .9er forever.

My chief concern here is too avoid having to grade an avalanche of partial cards for scoring purposes. This would inevitably lead to disputes, "small" claims and possible disruption of the entire market.

Frank .....You do what you think is best but allow me to plead my case for having my fractional Monster Number being "grandfathered in". I will keep it brief.
Germany Schaefer once stole second base, then announced to the pitcher that he was going to steal again on the next pitch. Puzzled, the pitcher looked to third and confirmed there was indeed a runner there. The pitcher shrugged his shoulders and pitched. Germany took off and slid in, throwing a cloud of dust into the air.... at first base. Germany then stole second again on the following pitch. The powers-that-be checked the rule book and finding no rule against it, gave Germany credit for, not one, but three steals on the sequence. They immediately amended the rulebook to prevent any future shenanigans for the basepaths. However, Germany's steal of first stands in the Record Book. To avoid any future fractionals is OK with me. The existing ones are no more disruptive than a single steal of first , are they?

As impressive as set six is... It only counts as one.

BTW... If you need some raws for sets three and four, I've got roughly 100 available)

Congrats Erick. I would be curious to see sub-monster lists for 'advertising backs' sets such as your EPDG.

I'm up to 66 with today's purchase.

Wow!! Talk about a cold streak. It took me almost three weeks to score another. The monster was steadily laughing the whole time. Oh well, it's only one, but one is one, one more than none.

I snagged
Mike Donlin (Seated) P150

for a new number of 205.9

Default Ignoring the Monster's raucous laughter and taking things one step at a time...

Added this beauty (eye of the beholder...and it does look much less blurry than the scan shows) to my collection through the B/S/T. Monster Number now at 11.

Default Hey Frank

If you accept my last request (Sweet Cap sub-set), then can I also add my AMERICAN BEAUTY 460 sub-set ?

Currently, I have 58 of the 75 subjects required to complete this very rare sub-set.

....

Thanks,

TED Z

Default Thinking.............

about Ted's requests. Is a 34 card Monster subset really worthy of a Monster Number or is it some form of Submonster? An accomplishment without doubt but a comparable number to the remainder of the list, I think not. We may be getting into the apples and oranges argument if we continue to add subsets indiscriminately. To date any such variations have been cited as footnotes. I guess, if it were my 34 card subset and it was on a list below Joe Blow's legitimate 35 Monster number that consisted of a stack of beaters, I would be insulted. What percentage of casual viewers take time to read the footnotes anyway? Furthermore if the footnote thing got out of control and more lengthy, I would expect fewer would read them or really care. The subject of back subsets et al was entertained as a possible future consideration in my original post, but has been avoided until recently. I would however encourage members to post such subsets in the thread, but will not dilute the purity of Monster Number list further. A list of references to such posts by post number can be included under the list in Post#1, so that subset enthusiasts can find these unique collections readily.

Hopefully, Ted, you will understand and accept my reasoning here. If you don't, sweetening the pot on our Tinker deal can't hurt.

Frank

I'll try to review the thread to create a list of relevant posts soon.

Frank,

So does that mean you won't count my complete (3 card) Lundgren Chicago subset?

Best Regards and Happy Collecting

But Frank....this "Monster" has tentacles....namely, all the silly sub-sets that we can attach to it

Look, this 34-card sub-set (Sweet Cap #649 overprint) is no great accomplishment. But, my American Beauty 460, I consider a "big deal". And, when I complete it,
it is only worth 75 points. Therefore, I will somewhat reluctantly "accept your reasoning" for not adding these "tentacles".

New subject....if I recently broke up one of my "Monsters" and most of it has been sold, do you still accept it ?

If so, I also put together a complete 467-card all SWEET CAPORAL, Factory #30 set (minus Plank & Wagner).
