I always honor the seller's wish for privacy by staying away.

My gut reaction is the person who requests private feedback has something to hide. But I don't think this is always the case. I know some very respected hobbyists who have private feedback, and I don't know why.

I don't like it and I think it defeats the purpose of having a feedback system in the first place. I agree with the post above as far as staying away goes. They may or may not have something to hide, but having private feedback sure makes them look like they do.

There is only one truly legitimate reason for private feedback:

This guy has almost 900 positives and 12 negs but if he was selling adult items I can understand but 12 negs is really not much to hide. And he has been a member for 3years just seemed a little strange to me. Rob

Yeah, what S Gross said. I couldn't think of another reason to keep feedback private unless you don't want people to know certain things. Love the Homer quote.

i usually stay away unless their feedback it really close to 100% with big numbers and i really want the item...if seller has 23,231 feedback with 18 negs, i'd buy unless those 18 were within the past couple of months.

but typically, i stay away as well.
