Default Which should I sell?

I hate to start a thread on this but I am in a bind and can't decide which cards to sell. Recent life situations have forced me to sell almost all my collection since Sept. But now I am almost done selling. I am down to last few cards in my collection, and my best. I am deadlocked on deciding which cards I should sell. Don't want to sell any but I need to choose. Can I get some advice on which to keep and which to sell? T205 Ty Cobb PSA 1 and Joe Dimaggio 38 Goudey ungraded PR-FR, or my N29 Buck Ewing SGC 40?

None of those are particularly scarce so I would sell whichever has the least sentimental value. That's the way I decide sometimes. Just this week, I kept a card that was in worse condition than one I am selling because of sentimental value.

Tough call Zach. I think all 3 would sell rather easily as presentable, collectible HOFers in lower grade seem to go quickly. Is that staining to the reverse of the Cobb or shadow?

Great point Leon, but I can't even decide which has more sentinmental value LOL. The Cobb and Dimaggio were dream cards since I was a kid, the Ewing was a huge adult dream. Hard to decide.
Steven that actually is a shadow, thanks for pointing that out new pics will be needed if that is the one to go.

Then if they are all fairly equal in sentimental value sell the one you will get the most for since you are trying to raise money.

The great thing is the rest I will not have to sell unless my car breaks down before I find a job. But with no job I don't need to drive either and it stays in a garage LOL, so less chance of damage and minimal gas used. I am raising money to pay off a certain debt and $700 to $800 is all I need then the rest are mine. So I hope my truck stays healthy in time to get a job LOL.

I'd keep the Ewing. I'm starting to believe that if you are on a limited budget, you should follow the box of 10 paradigm which I've heard is done for coin collecting. Basically, just stick to the ten cards you really want, and leave it at that. Your Ewing card is already very nice with plenty of eye appeal, but for the Cobb and Dimaggio card, you might want to upgrade in the future when your financial situation improves. So get rid of those, and save up to re-buy better copies of them back when you are able.

Not that my opinion means anything since I am new here. The eye appeal of the Ewing is really nice. I would keep the Ewing in my collection.

I would also keep the Ewing. Classy card. Plus, your avatar tells me that you like the A&G's.

Indeed, unfortunately my N28 comiskey is going to be sold to my brother LOL. But it is an AUTH and cut off at the bottom unlike the avatar copy.

Default Ewing!

Keep the Ewing...it looks great and I would think it's tougher to obtain than the other two.

I'd keep the Ewing in this situation. As someone else pointed out, I think it would be easier to replace the other two and possibly at upgraded levels in the future.

Just my 2 cents...

Personally, I'd keep the Ewing. But in the end it's going to be your call. I kind of like Leon's thinking: if they hold equal sentimental value, sell the one that you'll get the best return on. Just be sure that you'll be able to sleep nights, after the deed is done.

I am not a card collector, but I have owned many great and rare signatures from the Civil War and the Olympics over the years. While I have enjoyed owning all of the items I rarely regretted selling them. I had the pleasure of owning them and that was wonderful. I also enjoyed the selling as it helped and still helps make life easier along the way. Being an optimist I like to believe that if I really wanted one of them again I would be able to find them. Such is the same with these cards. Good fortune will smile on you and you will be able to acquire copies of these cards again.

I use an expression that I am not sure who to attribute it to, but it goes: 'Things exist whether you own them or not.'

Best of luck no matter what you decide.

Cheers,

Michael
