Default HELP - old tigers pennants

Anyone one know what each one of these would be worth?

Thanks, Chris

The 1965 Picture Pennant is worth about $65 - $70.

The other is a fairly rare early '60s variation. There are 9 Tigers at the bottom... one for each position on the diamond. I would say that it's worth $80 - $100 (depending on who's bidding, and who sees it).

Hope this helps,
Mark

My apologies to the OP for piggy backing on his thread, but I saw this piece on ebay recently and thought it look pretty cool. I've only seen a couple of others, but I'd love to hear from members any thought on value and/or scarcity.

According to the listing, the size is 19 1/2" x 30".

Thanks
Tim

Tim, I had a couple like that, one was World Series and one was American League Champions, sold for 3-5 hundred dollars.

Tim -

I can't tell on my work computer if it's the same banner you're referring to (the background looks the same), but one just sold on ebay for 175 dollars, which I would think is just about right.
Again, it may just be my less than stellar monitor, but it looks like the one you show in your post has some damage along the right side -- if that's true, it could impact the value.

Hi Greg,

They're the same. I saw it and hit the BIN. I'm slowly adding things that I think will look good in my office once I get settled.

One of the items I picked up is a large curtain/wall hanging with the Hillerich & Bradsby logo on it. I originally saw it in one of the photos you had previously posted from the 1950s.

The one I have appears to be like the two that are hanging up behind the case with the bat in it. I was excited to get it!

Tim,

Excellent decorating sense -- in all my years of bat collecting. I've never seen a large wall hanging like the one in the photo -- I think that's a great find!

Tim:

You did pretty well for $175. If not for the little condition flaw above the fringe, the Tiger Banner would be a $300 - $340 piece. These are pretty tough, and don't suface very often.

I just love these Silk Banners... I collect Reds stuff, and they made them for all of their Championship teams, dating from 1939 - 1972. I have the 1970 and two of the 1961 Versions (pictured below). Outside of the Reds and Tigers, I don't know of any other teams that issued Banners such as these...

Great score, and awesome Curtains, too!

I sold the two I had a couple of years ago, got a better price. There also is a smaller version maybe 6" x 10". Watch for that one too.

The Minnesota Twins made a few different banners as well. I have a couple of different 1965 banners along with this one from 1970. These are pretty difficult to locate and sell for quite a bit when they show up.

Wow... never seen the Twins version before. It's also the first I can recall seeing for a non-pennant winning team. That's beautiful... thanks for posting, DWR!

Joe:
You're right that the Tigers Banners have traditionally sold for more in top condition. I have just seen a bit of a dip, given the recent economy of the last 2- 3 years

Great stuff guys! I just got the Tigers banner this morning. It's in better condition than I was expecting with some staining and rust spots, but otherwise no tears of any kind.

@Mark - Love those Reds banners! I think the 1961 Champions one is my favorite.

I agree with Mark that Twins banner is off the hook!! The Tigers banner came in three different sizes. Here is mine, it is the medium size and hard to find because the Tiger is a reverse image, with a right leaning profile and the Old English D in reverse. This variation is either an error as it is almost always found without the fringe on the bottom or a knock off version. Years ago, a dealer at a show told me these were made in error for the first week and corrected at the factory in Ohio when they discovered the error prior to distribution. Whether this is true is anyone's guess but I have only found a few for sale over the years on Ebay with the reversed image. They almost always go unnoticied by the seller as did mine when puchased at a show years ago.

I love all of these banners. Here are a couple of my 1965 Twins Banners. I have another 1965 Twins banner that is really cool but it is about 9 feet wide so I don't have a picture of it.
