I am not aware of any color variations on the Chase card. Generally, E93s did not come with color variations if you are thinking of color variations like E94s which come in up to six different colors or E98s which come with four different background colors. I have seen a couple of printing errors (though not on the Chase card), but there are no standard color variations.

Danny,
I bet you will find Peter Calderon's site on caramel cards very helpful. Here is the link.

I know for a fact that Gibson, can be found with both a yellow and orange background due to improper ink mixture I assume. Evers may exist that way as well, as it is basically the same color.

Scott,
Is it a clear variation or just that one is a little richer or stronger than the other?

I had a description of a color variation then after posting remembered it was an e97 not an e93. D'oh!

Scott,
The color on the Gibson seems to be in between yellow and orange, so I can see a slight mixture variation producing something which appears as a significant difference if one had a little more red and one a little less. WOuld love to see scans.

Jim,

I am sure you are right it is just a color variation, not an intentional color difference, but a very pronounced one.

here's a diffent pic without the glare and darkness

sorry for the crappy pic, the scans were too reflective and i lowered the lighting.

Scott,
That is a cool card. If you ever want to part with it, let me know. It does look like just a variation in the mixture. You can see that the bat also seems to have a more red that orange look to it.
Thanks,
JimB
