I like it...

Would love to have one.

That's the first scan I've seen of one that didn't have a quarter beside it.

$2600 seem like a lot of money, but not necessarily unreasonable for this. So I think it's an ok transaction.

Don't know the winner only the underbidder. Fair price.

2.6K seems like a steal. The last one on eBay sold for over 5K. Congrats to the winner!!! (who is quite happy with the price)

The last one on ebay had Buck Weaver on it AND was only listed in the minors category. I think this red one was a great price. Had I not already had the team it would have gone for more. With everything going on, and the other cards I actually "needed" lately, I just couldn't justify going higher. It would have been a color variation I needed. In a better economy I think it might have gone for a little more. To me these are some of the best cards ever made!! best regards

Leon,
Boy oh boy. That one would have displayed nicely with your other two.
They are all great pieces.

IF I was made out of money, or didn't "need" the Gilmartin card I just picked up, I would have made a more serious run at it. I really thought it would go for more than it did. I didn't think I would even be close. I am happy for whomever got it. I have a feeling I know who got it, and if it is him, he was the underbidder on my green one with Weaver. best regards

Interesting that there are two different variations of the Los Angeles team card.

My understanding is that these cards were folded in half and sold with Bishop's candy bars. That is why you will always see a fold in the middle, on single cards. There is also a sheet of 5 of these cards, in red. A well known west coast collector/dealer has it and the rest of the set. I am also told there are several variations, such as this LA team one. I feel this might be the rarest E card set that is catalogued.

I would have thought it would have went for a little more, just based on eye appeal being folded in 1/8's didn't do much for me. However I realize scarcity outrules eye appeal most the time...

I just think had this one been folded just once in the middle it may have gone significantly higher.

Dave

I have been thinking about the green e221 that Leon beat me up on for over two years. I appreciate that he went easy on me this time. If I don't acquire another card this year, 2009 will still be a success.

I thought this was even better than the Bishop card...and it sold for a lot less.

I didn't go easy on you. You got that one fair and square. I figured you and I would be bidding fairly deep. I really love your pickup. Congratulations. BTW, I know you have been thinking about that other one for a long time. I am glad you got this one. best regards

I thought that PC was really cool too but, personally, I have to draw the line somewhere and I don't generally collect postcards. (not that you are saying I needed to bid on it) Still, that is a mighty fine PCL team pc. I thought about bidding but I don't think I would have gone close to where it ended. I had never seen one like that....

Postcards don't seem to get a lot of love from baseball card collectors unless they are part of a set like the Rose Co. or Dietsche postcards. This is probably the only one known of this issue....if they had made a panoramic postcard for every team in the PCL when they issued this one the value would probably be much higher yet as a stand alone item it seems that most who have commented on it already think it went too high.

Thanks Leon, it has been a long month waiting for that card to end. I really like the postcard too, it is fabulous. I would have bid stronger on it but it ended before the e221 so I had to save money. That said I would not have beaten the winner.
