Default Ebay overpricing

Constantly amazed by eBay asking prices. Am I wrong, or is this overpriced by about $97,000, maybe more?

Can't hurt to ask, and if somebody were to offer $500 they might even take it.

Is this a good thread to post a bi-annual "Kiss my non-inflated-unlike-your-card-listings ass, yepbg"?

Why only bi-annual?

I thought it was Dean's turn, or maybe 707. How in the world have these guys stayed in business for so many years while ignoring the pricing advice they get on chat boards.

Not only "stayed in business," but seemingly thrived.

When I looked at your thread title, this was the same item I thought of first. I've messaged the seller asking what he would pay for a nicer copy and he said a few thousand. I asked if he would take less for his and said it was priced properly. So who knows

Some people apparently like to use ebay as a museum to show off their collections, for others it’s just a marketing ploy, and for others they’re just nut jobs.

I generally like to be a happy person. Despite his numerous listings and relistings peeing in my Cheerios on a daily basis, I only internally bitch about him, then move on. I'd rather not pass along the negativity publicly and pee in other people's Cheerios by mentioning his listings very often (I'm sure I'm not the only one that has frustrations with what he has and won't sell for a fair price).

I know these over priced ebay listings come around time and again, but I'd like to add an item. A 1990 Topps Coin of Barry Larkin for $300. WOW!

Did you buy from Dean's on eBay or from their direct web site? If you buy direct from them, there at least are some discounts depending on how much you spend.

Saw it on eBay and bought it from the website. T200 New York Nationals lower grade but intact and no creasing. Back stain. $300 - seemed reasonable. I’ll post pic in a bit.

The problem is that Ebay has done such a piss poor job of supporting sellers over the years that many have left entirely. To that effect, in order to entice people to sell they have essentially done away with listing fees, which were the last barrier to entry. Now a seller can list whatever they want for whatever price they want and pay $0 to do so, so it’s really a no lose for them. I know plenty of guys that have a significant portion of their collections listed on ebay listed at FU prices. They have no real desire to sell, but if someone wants to pony up, fine by them.
