Default Can anyone identify this Bill Crouch card??

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

Board people...

Here's a card I recently got in a lot of several Bill Crouch items. It is 2 1/8th inches wide, and 2 5/8ths inches tall. It does not fluoresce.

Crouch pitched in college for the Eastern Michigan Eagles, playing in 1927 and 1928. Crouch pitched in 1939 for Brooklyn, appearing in 6 games his rookie year. In 1941 he was in 20 games with the Phillies, then 18 games with the Cardinals. He's with the military for 1942, 43, 44, and most of 1945, making in back for 6 games with the Cardinals. That was the end of his major league career. I think he was coaching a college team in Michigan in the late 60s. Crouch was the son of William Bill "Skip" Crouch who pitched in a game for the Browns in 1910, this is the only father-son duo from Delaware to have appeared in the major leagues.

Anyway, what is this card??

Well thank you... And I feel a bit dumb. I have a Terry Moore W754, had a couple of others I've lost. When I saw this I thought it looked similar, and I had looked to see if Brooklyn had something similar. Never thought to look at the Cardinals checklist. Seems odd that the card lists his minor league action, but omits the 1939 Brooklyn action.

Thank you very much.

Frank.

Bill Crouch was my dad and I am looking for a card of him if one exists. He played for Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Mich Univ) in 28 & 29. He later coached baseball there. He was not in the military, but instead left baseball during the war to work at the Willow Run Bomber plant in Ypsilanti.
I would also dearly love a card of my grandfather, also Bill Crouch, if one exits.
