Default The Art of Baseball, or my better half

It's opening night for short season Class A ball here in Vancouver. A nice 1951 vintage ballpark, and as most of you are aware, my far more talented spouse has 20 or so of her paintings enlarged and on display at the park.

Here's an interview she just did with one of the local media

WOW MAX! or should I say WOW JENNIFER?! Beautiful paintings, she really breathes life into her artwork.

One more reason to make it to a Vancouver game, as we, in central Washington, have lost our beloved Yakima Bears.

Ty

Jennifer and I went to Yakima for last year's season ending games. A beautiful ballpark, and it's a shame the team had to move, especially with the long tradition of baseball in Yakima.

And if anyone is thinking of coming to Vancouver for a game, a few things:

1. Get your passport now. It's now mandatory for crossing the border by car, and it's amazing how many people don't get it and are rushing at the last minute.

2. Plan your timing across the border. From Seattle, it's only 2:30 to Vancouver. However, you can get stuck in long border lineups if you don't have a Nexus card. Certain times are the worst: Saturday morning going to the US, and Sunday evening coming back to Canada.

3. While tickets are normally readily available and cheap (I think the most expensive is $16 per, unless you're in one of the special areas with food included), the C's did sell out about 12 of the 38 home games last year, and I expect the number of sell-outs will be higher this year. We often have 2 extra tickets for the games, so if you give me advance notice, I should be able to get tickets to you.

4. The ballpark is within a 15 minute drive from Downtown Vancouver and is accessible by the airport subway line and a ten minute walk, so it is easy to get to.

5. It's a great old ballpark (1951), there are some vintage cards and ephemera on display, and there is virtually no foul territory so you are right on top of the action. And as I describe the quality of short season Class A, it's a cross between T-ball and Triple A. One moment you see a great play and the next an easy pop-up will be muffed. However, once you see a game, you may wonder why you ever go to a MLB game in a cavernous stadium with no atmosphere, as certain are.

While no one appears to be hounding me for media interviews about Canadian tax law, Jennifer has had another interview about her art and baseball. Here's the link

Perfect opportunity to show off my Ettinger Masterpiece....

A rather abstract depiction of The Big Train. Vibrant and simply magnificent in person... the photo does not do it justice!
