Default Player represented in the most early candy and gum set (E90-1 through E107)

Quick, give me the answer to the question "Which player is the most commonly represented in the E90-1 through E107 run of early candy and gum cards?"

I will provide a list of the top performers once I get the correct answer.

All the guesses are in many sets, and McGraw and Dooin are near the top, but still looking for correct answer.

Baker and Chase good guesses, with Chase a top contender. But still looking for the top one, and in fact a guess that would make the top 12 list.

Mathewson, Jennings, and Collins are all in the top 12. Keep the guesses coming.

Barry is correct with Honus Wagner.

Honus Wagner...the man with limited tobacco issues available. He is in 18 sets - only missing from E90-3 (Cubs and White Sox only), E91A + E91B (Cubs, Giants and A's only), E96, E97, E99 and E100 (PCL issues), E104-1 (A's only), and E104-3. So of the ones he could qualify for he was only left out of the E97 and E104-3 issues (no players featured in the E95 set are included in the E96 set).

I will provide a list of the ones who were in at least 12 sets once I finish all the typing.

Sam Crawford?

Ah, so it's Wagner. Would've never guessed it.

For some reason, I pictured the E90-2 set and came up with Wagner.

Unfortunately Big Ed is not even a Six-Shooter down 'E' Highway, partner...he has a total of 3 cards in that stretch of Caramel road (E90-1, E90-3 and E98).

Default Re: Player represented in the most early candy and gum set (E90-1 through E107)

I wonder what the answer would be if we included the other non-candy issues that took their subjects from. Off the top of my head-t216 (including Virginia Extra, Mino, thin paper and the two regular factories), D303 (General Baking and Mother's), W555 and Tango Eggs.

Edited to add the M131 Baltimore Newsboys.

If my count is correct, Danny Murphy Non-HOF is in 16 E sets.

Unless someone beats me to it, in the next week or two (I like giving people a chance to steal my thunder, and if not, I enjoy creating prolonged suspense) I will post the E-card Danny Murphy info I have...maybe you are correct. I know off hand that he is in a decent amount of 'E' sets.

Ok, no takers. Here is what I have for Murphy:

E91A
E91B
E92 Crofts Candy
E92 Crofts Cocoa
E92 Dockman
E92 Nadja
E101
E102
E104-1
E105 Mello Mint
E106
E107

So a total of twelve. You may have been included color variations on backs of Croft's cards, and the E104-1 variations with emblems, etc.

My original post did not reflect any variations, but definitely they would make that master set more impressive...
