Mine is usually a Cobb item from my collection or had in my collection. I changeup once in awhile.

Simply, I began collecting as a six-year-old boy in the spring of 1961. My first cards were from a box of Post Cereal, and days later, I got my first three wax packs of Topps cards at a restaurant where my family and I had just dined. We were just sitting at the table, talking. Restless, I walked up to the checkout, where a candy counter was located. I noticed the Greek owner had wax packs of baseball cards.... ----Brian Powell

Avatar -- T210-1 Balenti. Of my entire set, probably one of my favorites. Has the Sav. and I love his "What the hell expression."

Moniker -- My parents Bull Terrier, Lefty (c. 2000). I always called him "My Buddy." The greatest dog that ever lived. I was trying to get a shot of him lifting his leg on his favorite leg lifting bush. Missed the shot, but got a beautiful photo of a beautiful dog. Bringing a tear to my eye ....

Fun stuff, Scott (oh, that's the "S" in S. Gross )

Avatar-Discovered Graig Kreindler's art about a year ago. This work is not only my favorite work by him but one of my favorite portraits ever. Its uniqueness in depicting Mathewson in his late teens while playing for Norfolk is a step above the usual portraits .He has this look hoping for a better year then the 2-13 record the previous season with Taunton!
Scott
PS moniker....obviously at the time of joining this board I was collecting this set.

One of my current favorite signed T206 cards in my collection, and a recent addition at that. I love the way the signature wraps around the border, and it makes it look in my avatar like Rube was trying to scrunch his name into the little square...

Mine is a scan of the T206 Cobb I got for X-mas 2015. Best gift in a while.

My first e104-3 nadja. one of maybe 2 or 3 cards in my collection that has more sentimental value than actual value.

Default Name...

My handle has to do with Marty Marion of the St. Louis Cardinals/Browns in the 40’s and 50’s. Marty was the father of my mom’s best friend. As a result I got swim in his pool and interview him for the school newspaper when I was 12.

The name “STL1944” comes from St. Louis plus the year that Marty was the NL MVP…

I guess I probably need to add a picture…

Holy crap, David. I must have looked at your avatar 100 times, and I never made the connection. Carl Th. Dreyer was a genius. I got The Passion of Joan of Arc Masters of Cinema import in about three weeks ago, and can't wait to watch it for the first time (waiting to get my region free Blu-ray player). I can stream it on Hulu Plus, but I really want to experience it from physical media for the first time. I'm afraid that I'll stream it, I'll get frustrated not being able to watch the extras.

I've become a huge silent film fan. I buy more films from F.W. Murnau, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton et all than modern films now. It took me some 40 + years to truly embrace my classic and foreign film, but I can safely say I've found another passion.

I've been petitioning Criterion to upgrade Vampyr, Joan, and Ordet to Blu-ray.

The Expos logo brings be back to my baseball loving youth, having grown up in Montreal. As kids, we would go to 20 odd games a year. Jarry Park was about a 90 minute journey one way (bus, subway, subway, and bus). We would hang around the street, and I'd have a transistor radio, listening to the games as we would hang. At night, I would listen to the games when I was supposed to be asleep.

One of my favorite memories as a 13-14 year old punk was going to a ball game at Jarry Park (a glorified minor league park) one Friday night. There were four of us. After the game, we hid in a bathroom until the place emptied. We then went onto the field, with only the floodlights on. We pretended to hit balls and run the bases for about an hour. I cannot tell you how we got home, but it was obviously pretty late, as there were no more busses coming to the stadium.

When I told my kids that story, they remarked how they could never get away with that today.

My moniker, Stampsfan, is my eBay ID, having joined in 1998 or so. Now living in Calgary, our local CFL team is called the Stampeders. Been a season ticket holder since I moved here in 1980. Not all of us are hockey nuts in Canada... some of us are more passionate about baseball and football, including our little league up here.

My moniker is not paying homage to Dwight Evans.

Avatar is from a painting of Jackie Robinson by John Barrett. Got it about 12 years ago. Saw it. Liked it. Started my Jackie Robinson oriented collecting.

Moniker is the grad school I attended (Stetson University in Deland, FL) and the year it was founded.

Avitar is because I'm a black metal fan and worship Satan.

Mine is Elmer Miller who played for the Yankees in 1921 and 1922. He was the center fielder for the Yankees in the 1921 World Series and has the distinction of being the first Yankee to ever get a hit and also to score a run in a World Series. Kmac32 is short for Kenny Mac and 32 was my Cubs fantasy camp uniform number.

Signing up with eBay January, 1998. Tried TyCobb, no luck. Tried CyYoung, again no luck. After three or four more tries I just picked Jacklitsch. Figured no one would have that one. I was right and the rest is history.

My avatar is his e107.

Default Nothing special, just stuff.

My moniker is the result of a lost weekend several decades back and danged if I can remember who hung the name on me; one of the reasons I do not drink these days. The avatar is an old fat dude I know trying to throw strikes in a competitive fast pitch league for the first time in over 40 years and failing in a most ignominious manner.

My avatar is Prince Hal playing for the San Jose Prune Pickers. He seems to be enjoying the game of baseball,,, which is nice given how he is viewed by many. I grew up in San Jose and attended Santa Clara University, where Chase also played (although he was never enrolled).

my moniker is rather obvious and I just decided to put in an avatar - my now-deceased dog, Camden. He was predeceased by Wrigley and we still have Ebbets and Fenway.

My avatar is Al Schacht, The Clown Prince of Baseball, in his trademark battered top hat with a crazed look on his face as captured by photographer George Burke. Graig Kreindler was kind enough to render him in color for me a few years ago, which transformation I captured in an animated gif, but unfortunately the file size is too big for my avatar. It does show work on my About Me page though.

My moniker is a jazz-era phrase for something that is the best of its kind, of high quality and the height of fashion. You know, cool. Which I'm obviously not, as proven by my choice of obscure and outdated phraseology.

Tripredacus is a faction from the late 90s "cartoon" Beast Wars: Transformers. The avatar is Ravage, taken from a 2000s comic book cover for Transformers by Dreamwave. Related in name only.

I am big into Transformers, and that is the handle/avatar combination I try to use everywhere.

I thought it was "trepidatious"

My avatar is one of my fave poses on any pre-war card, of course.

My moniker is a combination of my three kids names and my ebay user name.

My avatar is a Veeck jersey and his wooden leg. I've owned an example of the Veeck jersey and sold it years ago. The leg was sold in 1999 and is now being used as a trophy for a fantasy baseball league.

I think a man workin' outdoors feels more like a man if he can have a bottle of suds.

I hear this a lot. Correct pronunciation is phonetic, but even then people have trouble. I just say "call me Trip" which works well enough. Oh and in case you have wondered, people have referred to me by my online username in real life many time, even going back 10+ years ago.

Big fan of the Phillies, and one of the earliest Team Cards / Photos that is out there!

This 1911 Baseball Bats is one of my favorite WaJo cards because of the vivid colors surrounding his image.

My avatar is a Bill & Bob postcard of Hank Aaron. I just really like the image.
