Default Info needed. Anyone know what this is?

Hey guys. I had someone ask me about this card h3 got in a lot deal and I didn’t know anything about it so I figured I’d ask.

Any info on the card or set and possibly price range?

Thanks in advance,
Drew

Trying to get a recent sale price or any sales price will be difficult.

Here is a James Buchanan card somone on ebay is selling for $40. Much nicer condition. But Buchanan is not Lincoln. And it seems to be a different number series (601 and not 600).

Thank you Steve. So I guess the one I showed is the highest grade at a 1. I’ll give the info back the owner but my gut feeling is he is thinking he is sitting on a gold mine.

That's a very old sale and Lincoln cards do tend to bring very nice prices today if the right buyers are reached.

The H600/H601 set is what is considered a “stock” set of trade cards.

It featured color lithos of all Presidents from Washington to Benjamin Harrison.

A “stock” issue could have any advertisement added that wanted to use the series for advertising purposes. H-cards are essentially “advertising/trade cards” that don’t fit into other categories in the ACC.

This same series if bearing Tobacco advertising would be part of the N309 “set” and are the most prized versions of the series. The most commonly found tobacco advertisers in the N309 series are Mayo, American Eagle and August Beck (Yum Yum) but there are also other lesser tobacco companies that used the series as well.

I think that’s seems to be the consensus for all sellers with just barely enough knowledge to be dangerous.

Rarity does not create value, only supply and demand…99% of people tend to not understand that. It’s not worthless as it’s likely a 60 to 200 dollar card depending on the eyes on the auction or in the room. However, it could take 16 months of listings to get top dollar and still not meet the golden dreams of an owner who thinks anything under 5 grand is an insult.

As a collector of oddball rarities, there are cards I have seen listed not just for 6 months I am interested in, but rather 6 years straight of pie in the sky fantasy prices.

So true. I've been watching one for at least five years. Every year or two the eBay museum director (won't say "eBay seller", since he isn't really selling so much as trolling for a sucker) sends me an offer of some % off. Sorry, but 10% off of absurd is still ridiculous.

Trade cards are funky. The imprints are more or less irrelevant, though some can be more interesting than others. I collected European trade cards of boxers and the branding variations from the candy stores and bakeries that used them was just impossible to finish. I think some are really, really undervalued.

Forgive my cardless comment, but I just had to share an old rare find and wonder whether Abe answered the door in this 1860 U.S. Census (attached)?
