Default Anyone else drift into memorabilia?

image.jpgI find myself drifting from my card quests from time to time to pick up great, vintage memorabilia - old newspapers, weekly magazines, ads, etc with great cover art AND vintage stories (and advertisements - often very cringy by today’s standards!)

There are a few dealers who specialize in this but I wonder if anyone has had luck finding items like this more directly… antique shops, flea markets (do these still exist??), etc.

Even when I buy from dealers, the prices are compatibly quite affordable vs. cards - clearly the demand for cards far outweighs the paper items.

Live to hear your experiences.

And here is a recent pick up I had at a local show - nothing like a young Ted alongside a pin up girl… and that back page ad? Epic!

Jeff

I believe publications are the next frontier. This includes programs and scorecards...especially as more TPG companies join the ranks to put a numeric figure on them and slab them.

My most recent pickup from a new board member: Wheaties Lou Gehrig ad. When it arrives, I will share their username and a positive transaction. It's rounding out my Gehrig collection. Also, I own the Famous Sluggers Yearbook, but this isn't my photo as mine is packed away right now.

I also collect other magazines, pulp fiction, programs, etc.

I love memorabilia, it's great to add companion pieces to the cards

Here's an autograph of Arlie Latham w/ his N284 Buchner
& a back of a Toots Shore NYC menu, loaded w/ HOF'ers except Arlie & Toots

I've already seen Heritage offer slabbed copies of Sports Illustrated.
