Default May pickups

I just received this scorebook from the Walter Johnson Memorial unveiling in 1947. The scorebook has some terrific content on WaJo's career in baseball.

This is a nice compliment to a ticket from the same game that I bought a few years ago...

Default Baseball Trophy Cup

Picked up this beauty on eBay, it is kind of hard to see but pitcher is etched into the side. I believe this is from 1902 and made by Meridan. The inscription reads "Presented to Edwin Werk by the Anti-Knocking Club"

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Bob:
The only "help" I can offer would be to take it off your hands.... though I doubt that would really be appreciated

Congrats on the gorgeous acquisition!

Had to pick up this WWII photo. It's Luke Sewell batting during a USO trip in Burma in 1945. It matches perfectly with the ball I have from this trip that was signed by Luke!

My second signed postcard to go with the Ruth I already have. Thought this was cool even though the conditions is rougher than I normally like. I'll have it certified once I get it but it has 100% money back guarantee with it. Just in case.

Notated as "baseball at the Gunnery" circa 1865. It's difficult to see from my scan, but the CdV shows a pitcher in the center and a batter on the far right.

Default yankee ballantine display

Just got off ebay 1954 yankees ballantine display plaque to go with my yankee silver tray commemorating 5 consecutive world series. good shape not warped as these are normally found. A little elbow grease and 409 cleaner cleaned off all the stains.

Nice Kevin!

I just completed a trade with fellow board member Randall Hahn.
Here is a ticket stub from HOF'er Rube Waddell's record setting 1904 season in which he struck out 349 batters. Rube was the winning pitcher in the game played on June 25, 1904 at Philadelphia. The A's bested the Washington Senators 6-3.

Waddell owned the major league record for single season strikeouts until Sandy Koufax passed him with 382K's in 1965. Nolan Ryan since set the modern standard of 383K's in 1973.

Thanks Randall!

Disclaimer: I don't own this RPPC of Rube and Matty, but I love the image!

Great cdv, Gary! Is the photographer/location of studio identified on the back? I always hope so when I encounter an early photo.

The second ticket from the top is of particular note.

On 9/25/09 the A's and Cleveland played a doubleheader. In the 1st game, HOF Eddie Plank was the winning pitcher (shutout). The second game featured a terrific pitchers duel between HOF Addie Joss and HOF Chief Bender. Bender and the A's prevailed, shutting out CLE 3-0.

Neat ticket!
Thanks! I do have some accounts and the boxscores from each of the games. In the clipping I have about that 1909 doubleheader it has Bender beating Joss 5-0 (with CLE making 6 errors) in the first game and Morgan beating Falkenberg 3-0 in the second game. I'll try to attach it and hope it's readable.

In the other games:
5/2/1908, the A's scored two runs on Boston errors in the 3rd, Dygert with the win, Winters, the loss.
8/20/10 Chief Bender beats Irv Young
5/30/11 Harry Krause shuts out Lew Brockett and the Highlanders.
9/6/13 Bob Shawkey beats Fred Anderson, Collins and Baker score 3 runs each and Tris Speaker goes 3 for 4.

Ed,
Looks like you are on it.
FYI, when you posted the photo of your tickets, I was curious what happened in each of the games. 3-0 score was a typo. I meant to say 5-0.

BTW, originating of the same Philadelphia collection I own a win ticket stub for each of these early HOF pitchers:

Addie Joss- 1909 (LP Chief Bender- Game 1) Game 2- Cy Young LP
Eddie Plank
Christy Mathewson-1910 (Win # 242)- vs. Phillies
Rube Marquard- 1912 vs. Phillies
Rube Waddell- 1904 vs. Wash

I picked these up at different times over the last 20 years...

Great stuff!
