Default E90-3 Set: Let's See Them!!

After picking up the E90-3 Fred Payne variation from a member I've been very intrigued by the set. There is always an active thread talking about the T206 set, variations, scrap, backs, etc... Lets try to put together the most complete set of E90-3s including variations. Having only one I'll start it off with a variation of the most difficult card in the set.

Can anyone post the normal green version?

I don't fall under any of those. I started collecting, but realized I had too many "projects" so when I narrowed down I sold them.

I've thought about putting the set together a few times, however, I just don't get the prices on the Gandil and everytime I consier doing the set, that card immediately stops me from really pursuing it. Here's my only example.

Tinker - slightly out of focus. If this were a T206 it'd be worth a mint! Alas, probably hurts the value on this one....

I don't own one either so this is as close as I come to one ! I need to have this sent in to have PSA correct this error.

Default E90-3's are pretty nice

Didn't participate in poll because my answer is--have a few, not actively collecting. I like the set. Then again, I like most of the sets mentioned in the ugliest card thread, so take my endorsement with a grain of salt and throw it over your shoulder.

There's only 1 Blue Tinker that I've ever seen. Just an error, but a cool one. Use to be catalogued but I for some reason offered up the opinion that it shouldn't be. Pretty smart move since I own the card huh?

I've completed this set twice and it's always been one of my favorites. It's a bit harder than you would think to complete, but doable of course.

Good luck.

Rob

Nice Tinkers Rob!! I'm hoping to track down a green Payne to go with my blue one. May take a little while, but will be worth the wait.

Payne is a harder card to find, but you'll find one.

I sold one at the national this year.

Here is an interesting Schulte with a drastic color shift. It seems that many cards from this set have very poor registration, although I've never seen one quite this far off. I really enjoy the set, by the way. I completed it a few years ago and it remains one of my favorites.

My one and only, which has been in that plastic page for 20+ years. I think I paid $10 or $15 for it.

Hi Rob! That Chance is almost certainly from the same sheet as mine. I've been following this set pretty closely for several years and that's the only other one I've seen with that huge color shift. Great card! It seems that quality control was not a huge priority with the printing of this set. Given the limited subject group and the scarcity of all the cards, it may have been something of a quickly produced afterthought.

Here's a few of the oddities I own from this set....

Archer, Payne and Dougherty color variations and a Blackburne that is off-register.

On the poll, I put myself down as "actively collecting". I think I still have about 7-8 e90-3s total. Not really trying to finish the set but I do keep an eye out for the goofs. Given that this is one of the "dirtier" caramel sets out there, you do see printing flubs crop up from time to time.
