I would really apreciate it if everyone would agree just not to bid on that lot and let me win it for the minimum bid.

Thanks for your consideration.

A lot of those seem to have skinny borders.

Perhaps other e93 collectors can weigh in?

Richard,

After a taking a look at my examples, I have to unfortunately agree. Maybe I am being optimistic thinking that there is size variation?

I'm sure SGC exercised reasonable care in grading those. Sometimes scans don't tell the whole story. I'll bet they are fine. I'll also bet that everyone calling them skinny is checking his bank account to see how much money he has to bid on them.

dstudeba - thanks. you are a true gentleman. now if I can get everyone else to agree.

as for the cards being skinny, I dont think that it is uncommon for e93s to have some variance. Ive got several collector grade e93s that exhibit the same characteristics.

oh, wait, forget what I just said. they are all trimmed and therefore no one should even want to bid on them.

but where did you find info on the lot? As far as I can tell the next Mastro auction isn't up yet? Or are you shamelessly flogging some cards you are submitting to the August auction ?

If they were mine Adam, I wouldn't be selling. I also don't think a lot like this would need a PR effort to attract bidders.

Someone found a back-door into the Mastro auction, but after I posted this picture the door was closed.

All apologies.

Mastro is auctioning off the entire 30 card set both as a set and as individual pieces. The sum of the individual cards has to exceed the total set price.

I hate when cards are auctioned as a set or singles, whichever is greater....I will probably never bid on any lots like that....The guys with 7-8 digits in their income can just wait till the end and buy them...making all single bids futile and a waste of time...just my opinion and I am very aware that the auction houses are there to get the best prices for the consignors.......doesn't mean I have to like it though. BTW, those are some beautiful cards....

But Leon- aren't the guys with the most money going to get all the best cards no matter how they are auctioned? I think these are destined for the set registry crowd, especially if this is the finest known set, which it may be. I don't think the mid-budget collector will win E93's in this condition.

Hi Leon,
I agree.. I don't buy too many E cards, but these would tempt me to start. I would certainly bid on a few individual cards, but never on the whole lot. Be well Brian

PS Besides TBOB won't sell me any of his even after death, so I have to buy them somewhere.......

They are out there - just got to be patient. Ive also found that many of the low grade e93s are sold raw.

Is the Mastro catalogue online? how did you see these?

Very sharp lot, although I agree with Josh K. They are all trimmed, everyone stay away!

Another exceptional offering, as pictured in the Mastro Auctions ad in Old Cardboard, are those E93 and E97 panels that combined comprise complete sets. There is a known 30 card sheet of E93, but this is the first E97 grouping I have seen this way. Mighty rare stuff.

Always remember 2 things in this hobby

(1) no shortage of fantastic material in Mastro auctions
(2) no shortage of wealthy collectors with DEEP pockets that want number (1)

what is the supposition for their survival in such extraordinary state?
Does anyone know if it was a group that remained together in an envelope all their lives, were cut from a sheet, or somehow pieced together one by one?

And how did they all manage to stay so toothpaste clean white in the borders? I would have thought just simple aging of paper would have 'creamed' them up a little.......

I saw these cards before they were sold and graded and they are VERY, VERY nice. They were owned by the same person, assembled and kept together raw as a set in toploaders for over 20 years. They were recently purchased as a raw set and then graded. No surprise they are now in a Mastro auction. I tried to buy the cards a few days before they were sold, and the owner insisted that they were not for sale, even when I made a strong offer. They are not trimmed and are some of the nicest I have ever seen. Oh well, I guess you can't buy 'em all.

thanks for the info Bill - but how am I going to get everyone to stay away if you go telling everyone that they arent trimmed - come on now, get with the program

Daniel, its amazing, but cards do somehow manage to stay in that condition - just ask Jim B to share some of his e93 scans - his set is every bit as nice as the mastro e93s. Ive even got two or three that look super nice on the front but have scrapbook damage (cards in scrapbooks generally survived in great condition, except for the back).

Unaltered E93s vary in size. That said, these must be trimmed, so I would discourage anybody from bidding on them. According to Kevin Struss, they came from a small E93 find of about 50 cards in the 1970's. The dealer kept the best one of each and sold the rest.
