Default 1993 UD Gold Hologram

Has anybody ever found any tells on the outside
of the box to indicate if it is gold or not?

At 1 in 15 hobby sets, I think I should have popped
one gold set over the years. I probably opened over
100 to date. This leads me to believe somebody knows
something already.

WHO'S GOT THE ANSWER???

I believe they were seeded one per case. I don’t know if they were in a particular position within the case. But I would guess that if someone opened until they got the gold then sold the rest that would explain it.

I have no idea if it is the same for the big sets, but one of the early 90's small sets came regular /Gold, and the gold sets had a different plastic wrapping on the outside. Slightly different logo. So that might be something to check on.

I think the set was a 92, and dealers caught on pretty quickly. I heard about it overhearing one dealer tell another right when they came out, and at a difference at the time of 20 vs 100 went and found a couple at the show right away.

UD may have caught on and made sure the plastic was the same by 93.

If I remember correctly dealers sold sealed gold sets so there had to be a way to tell right out of the case.
