Default Just a Head's Up about an eBay seller

I really don't like doing this but hey we're all apart of this community for one reason or another. Most reasons are benign.
I recently jumped into an auction on eBay at the very last minute. A Joe DiMaggio Mickey Mantle signed photo auction was closing and I jumped in. Now, baseball autographs aren't my specialty, I'm a hockey collector.
I know dumb, but there was a COA so I took a shot and won it. Posted the picture here asking about the autographs and immediately found out they were both bogus signatures.
The COA was from a place called Platinum Collectibles. Holograms attached and all. Seller's feedback rating was 100 percent.
Picture gets delivered and I call Platinum Collectibles and a guy answers the call.
Hello, is this Platinum Collectibles?
Fellow on the other end answers yes it is but I'm in a casino right now I'll call you bsck in a few minutes.
Needless to say that never happened.
Contact the eBay seller he tells me to run it by PSA. But I already knew thanks to some if you that the autographs eere faked.
Sent it back. Got a full refund from eBay seller SamsCollectibles. I suspect he is Platinum Collectibles. He also told me run it GFA whom I'd never heard of.
Just want to say thank you to those who informed me the autos were no good and to let everyone here on Net54 that maybe not all his stuff is bogus but it was a lesson well learned. I've got a feeling he isn't the only one passing bad autos on eBay.
As for me I'll stick to what I know best.

Thanks

Thanks for posting Neil K. I don't collect a lot of auto's for good reasons. Glad you got your money back.

As per Forum rules I've been advised to post my full name to this thread that I posted. It's Neil Knox. Forum name nicknock-2013.
First time posting here and wasn't aware if all opinion rules.

I only buy cheap autos on this forum. Too many sharks in the water elsewhere.

It is a little more strict concerning names, on this forum as opposed to almost all others, but it has worked well for us so far...And as is well known, the name rule is very non-discriminatory.

Default Ebay

Several years back, ebay had a team that would respond to folks reporting fakes... Items were almost always removed, and any item that was listed with a questionable certificate was lifted...Pretty amazing these days... Fakes of joe d, mantle, Williams, cobb, and even Ruth being sold every day...

It's a bummer that it's not being policed a little bit better..

That ebay team you mention, which used to remove bad listings, is going to possibly be put in place again. Too soon to tell for sure but there is a chance....
