I don't think too many people go to Andale site and instead just use the default counter they get with TurboLister. I know that as a seller, I would much rather know how many unique hits I am getting.

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home, I would be arrested. So, I go to baseball games and fit right in.

I think Scott "WPA" makes a really important point - that of how much time is invested in following each auction, and not less important must be the EMOTIONAL investment we all make in planning, and hoping, and yearning for that item to be ours.
When sellers rip that out of your chest by ending an auction early, it just frankly hurts. It is also plainly disingenuous to pretend to be placing an item up for auction that ALL are viewing and expect an opportunity to win, when you have no such plan. If that is your methodology, kindly tell everyone in the auction description that it is open to offers to end early and let it be a true, and honest free for all.

Secondly, sniping is simply two things.
It is wanting to have the last say.
And making a final judgement that is unchangeable of how much you are willing to spend.
Hardly immoral either one I shouldn't think.
Everyone should really have a strong feeling for their "high" bid, and bid it. Early, middle, or late. Perhaps late is most effective, where is the harm?
Not only that, it can also be a disadvantageous ploy, as you really do only have one chance to decide your bid, and cannot last minute pay "over" simply because you change your mind.

So, lastly, I would just say........If you want to buy anything at a live auction, you wait. You see where the bidding goes, determine your competition, and decide what you are willing to spend. Then bid. Have your own strategies, bid it up early, make 10 bids spaced $15 apart, mess with it however you like. But let it be a fair opportunity for all to have their say, and that clearly doesn't happen if the auction is ended early.

Daniel
