Professional Gambler.

Well... I am an attorney working on a strict contingent fee system where I front 100% of the litigation costs for my clients and get NOTHING back unless I win the case...

so I guess you see what I mean.

Guys like Peter -- who defend the evil greedy corporations that intentionally put profits over safety --are the "pit bosses" who are just trying to keep all of the money in house.

I get paid nothin' for giving art and architecture tours at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, and also taking 4-6th graders, and 9-12graders, around, prepartatory to their learning something about ink brush painting.

I get a small amount of money from the government every month (since I only earned a small amount of money), and I have about 1 1/2 years to go on my mother's trust fund (not to be confused with the large amount of money my step=mother left me, which is now gone...except from some cardboard rectangles)...

I played the mini-tours for 8 years with some success. Now I give lessons to people who pay me handsomely to tell them they are getting better, when in reality they will only become more frustrated and thus...need more lessons.

...and I sell raw desert outside Phoenix...for anyone interested in making 11% compound interest...of course that will never compare to doubling up on old pieces of cardboard.

I try to protect the working people of this nation against the corporate pirates represented by people like Peter Spaeth. BTW, in case there is any question, persons against anyone lawsuits are way down, nationwide -- corporations againts corporations lawsuits are way up, nationwide. There is no lawsuit crisis, except the pretend one fomented by the evil corporate types, and those who stand to make money by being absolved of liability regardless of culpability. Fighting against the tyranny of the rich is what I do.

I am a retired Electronics Engineer that worked at Bell
Laboratories for 30 years in the Data Communications Dept.

LEON
I designed all those various Modems that you interface
your Computers with so that they can communicate via
Telephone Lines or higher speed transmission systems.

This career provided for my 1st wife and two daughters and
paid for a lot of neat looking cardboard "goodies" along the
way.

Also, I was a Radar specialist in the US Air Force (1960-'64).

I rarely post comments, but I thought I would respond to this post.

I am a high school teacher and coach Freshmen football and baseball. My coaching checks goto financing my "fix" of vintage cards. I also love to play texas hold'em...my winnings go to card purchases.

Interesting to see what everyone does for a living.
I enjoy the site.

Spent 20 years in advertising, starting as a finish artist and working up to creative director. Started collecting T206s during that time.

Sept. 12, 2001, my employer lost his largest account, an airline manufacturer. I lost my job soon after.

Found work as the art director for a non-profit provider of services and supports to the mentally retarded/developmentally disabled, with locations in 51 cities in 15 states. The pay is not nearly as good, haven't bought a card in just over four years, but I'm home every night by six, and have seen more of my wife and son in the past four years than the thirteen before combined.

Life is good.

I have a good job being a technical manager for a large communications company. I get to live a mile from the Pacific Ocean. I only have to work like a mule 8 days a week, drive thousands of miles per month and then get home to sort our old cardboard after a visit with the wife and kids.
But I built the bulk of my collection back in the good old days when I was a single guy managing and tending a bar...tips=HOFers !!

Great topic!
Great forum!

Dan...doubtful. Though I should never say never - I did appear on a certain person's radio show the day after the trial....incredibly, I had agreed to go on win or lose - but after winning it was much sweeter, for sure.

I have spent my last 15 years flying airplanes for the USAF, but am now on a three year exchange tour flying with the Royal Air Force in the UK. I'm trying not to get hooked on non-sports tobacco cards, but some are pretty cool over here! Don't do it, don't do it...

When I say I flip burgers for aliving, I am serious. I've slowly worked my way down the economic food chain, going from working in a nuclear power plant to flipping burgers. I am much happier doing this than anything except the gaming and comic store I owned in CA.

I grew up in a commercial fishing family. When the fish disappeared i sold the waterfront real estate across from manhattan, and now work part time at a bait and tackle store and spend some time on the bay supplying bait to fisherman. The rest of my busy life is taking care of my 5 and 9 year olds, and buying cardboard with funny pics.
