Default T206 Southern League Pop. Reports

Back in October 2008, I gathered numbers for T206 SLers that had been graded by SGC & PSA. I then combined the 2 numbers to see the "Lowest Pop" SLers of the 2 major TPGs combined.
Today, almost exactly 5 years later, I gathered the same numbers to see if anything stood out over a five year span.

October 2008
SGC Top 10 Lowest Pop:

Ellam, Roy 41
Helm, J. Ross 44
McCauley, Pat 44
Paige, George 44
Foster, Ed 45
Perdue, Hub 45
Bay, Harry 47
Hickman, Gordon 48
Hooker, Bock 49
Lafitte, James 49

October 2008
PSA Top 10 Lowest Pop:

Persons, Arch 93
Foster, Ed 96
Mullaney, Dom 98
Kiernan, J.F. 100
Smith, Sid 102
Lipe, Perry 102
Ryan, Ray 103
Violat, Juan 103
Bay, Harry 105
Smith, Carlos 105

October 2008
Combined SGC & PSA Top 10 Lowest Pop:

Foster, Ed 141
Persons, Arch 144
Ellam, Roy 149
Smith, Sid 152
Bay, Harry 152
Mullaney, Dom 153
Lipe, Perry 153
Ryan, Ray 153
Violat, Juan 153
Perdue, Hub 153
Helm, J. Ross 153

Now, Today:

August 2013
SGC Top 10 Lowest Pop:

McCauley, Pat 84
Paige, George 90
Carey, Scoops 92
Ellam, Roy 93
Helm, J. Ross 94
Ryan, Ray 95
Hickman, Gordon 95
Reagan, Ed 95
Foster, Ed 96
Smith, Sid 96
Greminger, Ed 96
Bernhard, Bill 96

August 2013
PSA Top 10 Lowest Pop:

Smith, Sid 154
Mullaney, Dom 154
Helm, J. Ross 158
Coles, Cad 160
Kiernan, J.F. 161
Persons, Arch 161
Ryan, Ray 162
Hooker, Bock 163
Cranston, Bill 163
Perdue, Hub 165
Thornton, Woodie 165

August 2013
Combined SGC & PSA Top 10 Lowest Pop:

Smith, Sid 250
Helm, J. Ross 252
Ryan, Ray 257
Mullaney, Dom 257
Hooker, Bock 261
Ellam, Roy 262
Violat, Juan 263
Greminger, Ed 264
Lipe, Perry 265
Bay, Harry 265
Perdue, Hub 265
Thornton, Woodie 265

I know, I know that PSA & SGC graded T206s makes up a very small percentage of the overall population of T206s, but the numbers do show some interesting things:

- The SLers that showed up in the Top 10 lowest COMBINED pops in 2008 & in 2013 are: Sid Smith, J. Ross Helm, Ray Ryan, Dom
Mullaney, Roy Ellam, Juan Violat, Perry Lipe, Harry Bay & Hub Perdue.

- The SLers that are new to the Top 10 lowest COMBINED in 2013 that didn't make the Top 10 in 2008 were: Bock Hooker, Ed Greminger & Woodie Thornton

- The SLers that were in the Top 10 lowest COMBINED in 2008 that now are not in the Top 10 are: Ed Foster & Arch Persons. By the way Foster & Persons were ranked #1 & #2 respectively in 2008, now they don't make the Top 10. Foster now ranks #14 and Persons ranks #25.

NOW JUST WITH SGCs POPULATIONS:

- The SLers that showed up in the Top 10 lowest SGC pops in 2008 & in 2013 are: Pat McCauley, George Paige, Roy Ellam, J. Ross Helm, Gordan Hickman & Ed Foster

- The SLers that are new to the Top 10 lowest SGC Pops in 2013 are: Scoops Carey, Ray Ryan, Ed Reagan, Sid Smith, Ed Greminger, & Bill Bernhard.

- The SLers that were in the Top 10 lowest SGC Pops in 2008 that now are not in the Top are: Hub Perdue, Harry Bay, Bock Hooker & James Lafitte.

What does all this say? Well Sid Smith made all 3 lists (SGC, PSA & Combined) in 2013 and he made 2 of the top 10 lists in 2008 missing out on the Top 10 SGC by 1. He is the lowest combined today. So, I guess the numbers are saying that Sid Smith is a very tough Southern Leaguer. Of course the numbers above tell a lot more about SLers, but I am going to watch my Packers now. Draw your own conclusions.

Default Good Info on SLer's!

Interesting data Phil. Now, do that for the "other" T206 (T213) SLer's and compare the two. It will blow your mind just how rare a T213 Coupon SLer really is...

Last night I looked at combined pop report conclusions and SGC only conclusions. This morning I will take a look at PSA only conclusions.

- The SLers that were in both the Top 10 Lowest Pop lists in 2008 and 2013 for PSA are: Sid Smith, Dom Mullaney, J.F. Kiernan, Arch Persons and Ray Ryan.

- The SLers that are new to the Top 10 Lowest Pop lists in 2013 for PSA are: J. Ross Helm, Cad Coles, Bock Hooker, Bill Cranston, Hub Perdue and Woodie Thornton.

- The SLers that were in the Top 10 Lowest Pop lists in 2008 for PSA that are no longer in the Top 10 are: Ed Foster, Perry Lipe, Juan Violat, Harry Bay, and Carlos Smith.

CONCLUSIONS:

- In 2008 (and in subsequent years), Ed Foster was widely recognized as a tough SLer. He no longer ranks as a Top 10 Low Pop. card in PSA or Combined lists.
