Default Closing Tonight - Love Of The Game Spring Auction

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick reminder that the LOTG Spring Premier Auction closes tonight. Extended bidding begins at 9PM Eastern.

Lots of great items to be had, including the four Joseph Hall Cabinets (that are just one bid away from hitting the reserve), a host of significant Honus Wagner-related pieces (including a great W600 cabinet and a Blome's Chocolates overprint), a whole herd of Old Judges, lots of tough T206s, an awesome football HOF rookies collection, and some really cool autographs, including one from Oscar Charleston.

There are also quite a few different Negro League and Cuban League players from a host of different Caribbean issues, including a fantastic postcard of Jose Mendez that's surely one of his earliest known images.

Visit http://loveofthegameauctions.com/catalog.aspx to check out the auction.

Good luck to everyone bidding - I'm around all day if anyone has questions!

Best,
-Al

What a crock!!! Outbid at 3:32 AM. I guess the Diaz cigarettes must be going to Japan or the Polynesian islands. Who else is awake at that hour? LOL

It's rough but the fact is the highest bidder wins, not the last bidder nor the one who stays up the latest. I was up at 2 am CST agonizing over a huge bid. Had I been drinking it'd be mine, but alas, I wasnt.

I put my max bids in long before the auction closed and neither of them were reached, in fact I won one item for my initial bid.

By scrolling down the main page, i see it says 19 bids, current bid 13k
but when clicky the item itself, the final price is indeed blank with 19 bids.
So i guess, figure in the BP and that equates the final price.

Default considering....

population of them are less than 70 guestimated ..........or less talking with many veteran collectors(including scraps)...

ended at approx... $1700.00 w / juice .....should've reached at least 3 k in comparison to the few sales in past....

someone almost got it at half price.....

Went to bed winning. Woke up at 3:00 am losing (head cold, I assure you). Bid a bit later and won. One nice thing is that I blew my bank, so I don't have to worry too much about REA!

Any thoughts on the Hindus? Nice selection, and the prices seemed strong. Wasn't aware that the lower graded stuff would sell so high.

I rarely let Charleston cards go, but I did let this one go despite the stellar image.

I got the Mendez, Phil.

Outbid by a fellow Tribe collector and in Ohio after all!!! Nicely done. In Cuba I tried to find a Bedgood for you, but we ran out of time before we got to that part of the guy's collection.

Default Coupons

LOTG had 5 lots of Type 2 Coupons, each with 4 or 5 cards. I needed 1 or 2 cards from each lot, but I didn't want to bid on 4 cards when I only needed one.
I put low bids in on 2 lots that I didn't win, and another fairly low bid on one lot that I won. Now I have 2 extra cards that I will want to resell.

I wish they would have listed each card individually and I feel that the overall prices would have been higher. The lot that I won ended up selling for less than I would have paid on eBay, so I can't complain about the final purchase price, but I would have much rather bid on individual cards that were on my want list.

Rick

The rarer back t205 cards seem to be picking up steam. The Broad Leaf prices seemed strong.
