Default Baseball Art....

One of the highlights of going to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY has been viewing their collection of original baseball artwork.

Although there has been several decent books issued on the subject including "Diamonds Are Forever," I rarely see much discussion on the subject.

I figured it might be an interesting thread to see scans of our favorite baseball artwork....paintings, etchings, sculpture, etc.

My favorite painting, which can be found on page 73 of "Diamonds Are Forever" is James Chapin's "Veteran Bush League Catcher." (Oil on canvas, 1948)

Let's see some more scans of baseball artwork!

Patrick

The Gladstone Baseball Art collection is truly stunning, as Bill Gladstone and his spouse have amassed an amazing collection. I just picked up the Lehigh Exhibit book today, and there are even more pieces of art that belong to the collection than I had even thought.

One of the great Sports artists is Stevan Dohanos

This is one of my favorites of his that is on display in the HOF at Cooperstown.
This real life picture reminds me of those years back in the 1950's when watching a game at the Polo Grounds in NY.

Hey Ted - what's the blue thing coming out of that kid's mouth? Or is that just from drinking pre-war gatorade?

Not to take anything away from some of those awesome examples....but I do consider my E95 Cobb, T206 Matty, T3's art.
