Default 1974 Parker Brothers Pro Draft Cards

Hello. Looking for help. Need to know what differentiates 1974 Parker Brothers Pro Draft cards from normal 1974 Topps. I know there are some picture variances (those are easy to identify); and I know that the cards with stats on the back say, "1972" as opposed to regular issue '73 stats. What I need to know is how to identify guys like Gene Upshaw who don't have a stat line on the reverse. Is there some kind of indicator? Please help if you can... JB

Loved this game as a snot nosed 12 year old. Anyone ever notice the cards pictured on top of the box are 1973 cards?

from SCD article linked above:
The picture on the 1974 Parker Brothers Pro Draft game box shows 1973 Topps cards. Some say an early version of the game included 50 cards from ’73; even so, no cards from that year show any variations that would identify them as Parker Brothers cards, so none from ’73 are classified as such.

Many years ago I went searching for this game in my parents attic. I was planning to pull the cards out so that I'd have the complete Parker Bros set.

Imagine my surprise when about half the cards that were in the box I found were not from the set. I'm guessing when we played this game as kids we swapped cards in and out from the rest of our cards and now my set is scattered to the wind.

Now I have to finish it all over again! Darn

Definitely cheaper to buy the whole game to obtain cards (if the price is right) HOWEVER most games listed on eBay contain no cards or replacement cards (regular 1974 Topps cards). So you have to be careful. I'll admit to "hoarding" these games over the years
I could use #4 #35 #58 and have plenty of duplicate cards to trade.

Well, seven games. And I thought I was keeping too many with my 2-3.

Jeff I'm not sure that 124b card you listed exists? I have cards with:
A) the different front image, 1972 stats and ** (PB cards)
B) the different front image, 1973 stats and * (later issued Topps?)

Anyway it was fun to look through my cards today! I have these ** cards I will send you. PM me your mailing address!

Steve: The "sticky" note on the bottom game says PARTS, so I have six complete games, and one game for extra parts (value/option/contract cards etc).

When I put together my set with various lots from eBay, I think I got at least 15-20 of the game cards. Most sellers don't know the difference. I would bet the same would happen now.

There must be an error in my checklist for card #124. Based on your info I'm guessing that I'm missing 124b with different image, 1973 stats, and *

Thanks for spotting that, Larry!

Oops! I Did it Again! $13.25 eBay best offer and $11.75 to ship. Arrived today. All 50 PB cards here in nice shape, so 50c each card for the full set?
