Great pick ups! I went back quite a few pages and saw some very nice stuff. Love that Browns Banana seat and drooled over that '65 Namath. Saw a few '73 Namath's also. I have that card in my Jets collection, but mine is not as nice condition.

I love the Army Navy footballs, true pieces of history.

I picked up this "Hail Mary" game ticket stub this week

Still remember watching that game on TV as a 9 year old. I was a front running Cowboy fan at the time and was loving it. How about the flying orange some thought was a penalty flag. Great piece of history, congrats!

I love this card. Technically not a new acquisition, it was in a lot of Philly from all four years that I got and put away about two years ago. Pulled them out tonight looking for something and ran across this. Just a great game action shot that just screams to me the era it comes from.

Nice image, Rob. Have you gone back to match numbers to see who all of the players are on this card? Anyone know of a resource out there that has taken the time to do this for action cards like this? That would be a really cool project.

No, Jeff, I hadn't thought to do that. Sayers got my attention, but didn't consider the others. I know that I always do notice all of the players in the image in action shots of the '70s from the Cowboys, Dolphins, and Vikings as I was so familiar with their teams.

That would be an interesting project, though a very large one. Probably find a lot of guys whose appearance in an action shot was their only appearance on a card.

A side project of mine is collecting all the Fleer Team Action cards with Andre Tippett or John Hannah in the photo, even when they're not the featured player (or team).

Love that. I could definitely do that with a few guys, Dick Anderson comes to mind. I have always wanted to get started with the Fleer but have been too occupied with just the Topps. You may have planted a seed.

I picked up a small stack of '48-'52 football exhibit cards, but included was this 1948 Sports Champion Exhibit Claude Buddy Young. I never even knew this set existed lol.

I've got 20 of the 59 cards in the '48-'52 set and I have these doubles if anyone has any to trade:
Dottley
Fears
McColl
Rykovich
Williams

Great Gifford postcard! I've got a few Jantzen Jerry West items from the 60's but I've never seen that Gifford before.

I won this photo in the latest Love of the Game Auction, it's a baseball photo, but if you look closely you can see Roger Staubach in the back row. Photo is from 1960 Staubach was 18 years old, earliest item in my Staubach collection.

Got probably 20 or so packages in the mail this week. All of them had either vintage football or vintage baseball. These were the football I got today. The rest of the week's highlights were vintage baseball (my first Mantle, etc.).

I've been looking for the Lilly a long, long time. But they're hard to come by on ebay for some reason. If they're not insanely over priced, they're in awful condition. So I finally found one I liked with a good price. Also excited to add the Baugh to the 55T AA set.

Thanks for the look.

I had a set of the non-Winners and a copy of the "Winner" Reeves/Mrs. Reeves panel but recently came across a lot that included a few of the "Winner" cards as pairs and singles. What is the difficulty of these, can't remember really seeing any sell publicly. A strange set in that it features the wives and families of the players...

I'm working on the 1954 Quaker Oats "Sports Oddities" (multi-sport) set, and I picked up four cards that feature football. Including Amos Alonzo Stagg and Bronco Nagurski!

I wonder if the Manziel on the left has ever sprung to life at night, and gone on a murderous spree. There's something about the detail in his face that is a little disturbing. Like something out of the 'Puppet Master' movies. ;p

I don’t collect this set or printing plates, but I couldn’t pass this up. J.W. Lockett was an All-American at my alma mater and local university, the University of Central Oklahoma (Central State College at that time).

I’m going to do some additional research becuase I think he may have been the first black athlete at the school. This was in a city that was not accepting of African Americans at the time.

Another of my $0.50 OBC specials:

I wouldn't mind getting every big HOF RC in lower grade. They'd go great with my JB:

I sincerely mean this as I write it now: I just turned 45, and I am gradually getting closer to the collecting style I had as a teenager. Consequently, I look at your Campbell and Brown cards with admiration. More and more, I am just appreciating cards for what they are to me: a fun connection to my childhood, another way to somehow be apart of the sports I have always enjoyed, and an escape---one card at a time in a binder.

Two small 1956 Topps cards (total BV of $18). But man, I love vintage football. I like it more than vintage baseball, I think. Not really. But I do enjoy it. I've now got about 20 vintage football cards along with my starter lot of 1960 Topps I have. Thanks for the look.

Great pickups, wdwfan! You keep telling yourself you like baseball better. Vintage football is cheaper, the sets are smaller, but have just as many stars as in the baseball set.

You are hooked! I think you should work on the '56 set. It's a good one.

Jeff speaks the truth. I have to continually resist the urge to go all in on football. For the most part, the sets are smaller and easier on the wallet. Even the stars, and there are many, are typically quite affordable.

Wink

They aren't the sharpest cards I have ever bought, but they are crease-free with just honest wear. The Blount and the Clark are dinged and have a little bend, but I really do like them. I mainly just wanted to get a few in hand to see what I thought about them. These '52 Bowman Large cards could become habit forming.

Picked up in my travels today. Would probably part with it if someone really wanted it because I am not a Browns fan but I couldn't resist the pictures and autograph of a HOFer.

Not a big time card and not working on the set. Just have always liked it and picked it up from a board member.
