Default Noseless Joe Jackson

Nice to see the American Caramel 1909 Shoeless Joe with no nose back for a spin at Heritage. Has there been a major auction in the last two years where this card hasn't changed hands?

Some other Heritage ramblings

- the baseball currency items from 1987-88 are really cool

- the SGC 88 Gehrig is breathtaking. Most beautiful card of all time bar none if you want my biased opinion.

You know I send back to VCP and it seems there are a lot of noseless or nose impaired versions of this card trading hands. I saw a whole bunch of them where the nose was gone or very faded. Appears to be endemic to the issue.

That variation always makes me think of Tony Montana.

Personally, I have always loved the e90-1 Shoeless Joe. It’s the undisputed rookie card of one of the game’s great figures. I also love how many have severe registration or centering/cut issues; makes finding an eye appealing one all the more satisfying of a challenge.

Default Ugh....

I was in my senior year in High School and set up at the Albany Polish Community Center for some of my 1st shows ever. Ed Keetz was the promoter back then in the mid 1980s.

I owned this card (not the noseless one) but one that had a very pronounced red dot near his nose. At the time, I had never seen another one and to be honest, the red dot bothered me as I was not sure if it was ink, writing, etc.... so.........

I sold the card to another dealer for $150!!!!!! UGH!!!!!! It was a clean VG/EX. I got it originally in Vermont from a longtime collector for around $100 and was glad to make a quick profit.

ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.

Peace, Mike
