Here's an old thread:

http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=145376

If it's just the corner, and the frosted part is only a couple centimeters, then it's possibly OK. I have a few legitimate cases where just one corner appears frosted.

Most of the compromised holders where the card has been removed will show frosting across the entire top, bottom, or side of the holder.

Have the seller send it back in for reholder. Odd to take a picture on a reflective metal background.

now look on the pic of the reverse. Now with the back of the card normaly the right side should look like frosted but now its not the case its still the left side who look frosted. Its why i think its the pic. Anyway i bought the card and see that after the buy.

when i will have it in my hand i will be able to see if everything is legit or if its a scam. the card look 100% legit to me and look like a psa 4.

i always thinked card targeted by this fraud was high value cards and important card like the jordan the mantle or the gretzky or great nice clean card inserted in a fake psa 10 holder to have a value X1000 with the psa 10 designation.

i bought it from a dealer who have a store. so i hope if there are anything wrong they will agree to refund me.

pic of the back :

When I receive any graded card in the mail, one of the first things I do is place it on a black piece of paper. Doing this makes the frosting stand out more, and allows me to see if the holder was tampered with or not. Most have a little bit of frosting here and there, which is normal, but when the whole entire edge is frosted, or two whole edges are frosted, then that's not good.

Do you have other cards from this same set? If so, then you can use a magnifier and compare them to the Morenz. The print spots, pattern, etc. should be the same.

If that's the case, seller should have no problem sending you a new scan with the card against a dark background.

Card is fine and appears graded accurately. I wouldn't worry. Way too much hype on frosted edges. I get cards back from PSA with the same appearance. Nothing more than recycled plastic.

I know that many people on here are far better at detecting compromised holders than I am, but I think the card looks fine and accurately graded.

I mostly just wanted to say congrats on a great pick-up. I only have a basic knowledge of vintage hockey cards, but i know that the Howie Morenz cards from the two William Patterson sets are among the top vintage hockey cards in the hobby. Congrats.
